*Kili's POV*

We were in the boat, slowly getting closer to Erebor. The mountain. I was excited and nervous all at the same time.

If the dragon wouldn't have taken over, we would have been born there and lived there. Nobody from our family would be dead right now.

We got out of the boat and began the long walk to the mountain. It is so beautiful. Especially when we got in front of the gates. I wish Amara was here to see it. Leaving her behind was something I didn't ever want to do, but she told me to go. I wonder if she meant it. Or was she just trying to make sure I reunited with my family without problems?

If I wanted to really dampen my spirits I could think about the blonde elf, he watched over her like she is his wife. I know that he didn't just want her for her beauty and because everyone who met her loved her, but I could tell he truly loved her for herself.

He was a prince and he could easily get what he wanted, but I think he is a bit glad Amara resisted him. At first anyway.

What feels like a million years ago, was actually only two days ago, she told me everything about herself. And I sat in that small dungeon and listened.

I didn't do it because I was bored, but because I truly wanted to know her better. I wanted to see the world through her eyes. After I met her I knew she barely saw the world.

We were standing right in front of the gate, the wall was smashed. I looked at Fili as he looked at me and the others and we all ran quickly inside, hoping our kin was still alive.

"Hello!" Fili yelled.

"Bombur?" Bofur called out for his brother.

We looked around.

"Bifur?" Bofur called out for his cousin.

Still there was no response.

"Anybody?" I shouted.

We ran deeper inside. Bofur was ahead as we ran down halls and passage ways and tons of stairs. Please tell me someone survived.

"Wait!" I heard someone shout. I turned around and saw it was Bilbo! Did the rest of them survive?

"Its Bilbo!" I told the others.

"He's alive!" Bofur said.

"Stop! Stop!" Bilbo yelled and ran after us. We stopped walking, waiting for him to catch up.

He finally approached us.

"You need to leave, now." He said.

"What?" I asked.

"We all need to leave." Bilbo said looking at all of us.

"We only just got here." Bofur said, and I could tell he is just as confused as we were.

Why did we need to leave? This was our home.

"I've tried talking, but he wont listen." Bilbo said, in between breaths.

"What do you mean, laddie?" Oin asked.

"Thorin! Thorin. He's been down there for days. He doesn't sleep, he barely eats, he's not himself. Not at all." Bilbo explained.

I tried looking behind Bilbo for any sign of my uncle. Fili was doing the same. I quickly turned my attention back on Bilbo.

"Its this place." Bilbo said pointing all around.

"I think a sickness lies on it."

Now I am really confused.

"Sickness? What kind of sickness?" I asked.

I watched Fili move towards the place Bilbo was pointing at. Was Thorin down there?

Fili began to rush down the stairs.

"Fili!" Bilbo yelled.

Bilbo quickly began running after him and we followed. There was a lot of running but we finally reached the bottom. Thats when I saw him. And all the gold.

There was mountains and mountains of it. I didn't think there was really this much gold in here, but the stories were true. And there is my uncle standing right in the middle of it. Looking better than ever. His eyes were fixed upon the gold.

"Gold." He whispered and looked everywhere.

We kept our eyes locked on him.

"Gold beyond measure. Beyond sorrow and grief." He said.

We looked at him and then at each other, is he okay? He sounded so..entranced. I thought those stories were also false, but maybe they weren't. Maybe our ancestors really were so fixed upon the gold they were willing to risk their own lives for it.

I didn't want that to happen to me, or Fili.

I looked back down at my Uncle.

"Behold the great treasure hoard of Thror!" Thorin said and threw a ruby diamond up to us. Fili caught it and looked at it, but I could tell he was more worried about our Uncle then all of this gold.

I looked at the diamond and then back at my uncle.

"Welcome, my sister-sons to the kingdom of Erebor." He said.

He is sick, now I know what Bilbo was talking about. We were quickly led away from there by Bilbo. He showed us where everyone else was. Thankfully nobody had died. We were all safe. Now my Uncle had us looking for the Arkenstone and while I looked I thought of her.

After everything that's happened in these last few days, my thoughts went back to Amara. I still had her necklace around my neck. (Who remembers that Amara gave Kili her moon necklace?:))

I admired it, but I didn't take it off. To me this was the greatest treasure. I missed her and I wanted her here with me. Now that would be the greatest treasure of all. I knew she would be safe inside these walls, safe then wherever she was going. I loved that she was going to help Bard and the people of Lake Town. Her heart was big and generous and that was something I loved so dearly of her.

But the blonde elf kept coming to my mind. I left her there with him. I could see the resistance in her eyes when I called her 'My love'. (That is was Kili said in the language)

She seemed shocked, but not to shocked. I wanted to hear her beautiful voice again. Just like the night she saved me and then sang me that beautiful lullaby to assure me, I was going to be okay.

But now I'm not okay without her. I want her here. With me. I need her here with me. But that damn blonde elf kept interrupting my thoughts and I know that as much as I try to deny it, he loves her. I can tell just by the way he looks at her. I also know somewhere deep down that she loves him too. And that kills me inside.
