"There's no sign of him anywhere." Fili said.

I sighed. This was horrible. The ground shook.

"We need to get back to Bard's house and get the children and Kili out of here." I said.

We ran back to Bard's and started gathering everyone. When we were about to leave Tauriel showed up.

"Tauriel?" I asked in confusion.

"Lady Amara, I thought you might need help so I came back." She said.

"Alright, Bain, Tilda, Sigrid, follow Tauriel." I said.

They quickly grabbed their coats and followed her towards the door.

"Where is Legolas?" She asked.

"I dont know." I said.

She sighed. My heart was heavy. Where was he?

I heard the roar of the dragon.

"We have no time. We must leave." I said.

Bofur and Fili walked over to Kili and began to help him up.

"I'm fine. I can walk." Kili said and pushed Fili away.

"Hurry." I said.

"Amara, we cant leave." Bain said.

"We have no choice." Tauriel said.

He sighed.

Bain was right. We couldnt leave without Bard.

"Come. Lets just focus on getting your sisters out of here, okay?" I said.

He nodded and grabbed Tilda's hand.

I heard people shouting from outside.

"I can see him!"

"Look!"

People were screaming.

Terrified.

We ran down the stairs and into a boat.

"Tauriel, lead the way." I said.

She nodded.

Bofur, Fili, Bain, and Oin picked up an ore.

"Slowly.." Tauriel whispered.

We made our way out into the cold icy water.

People were running all around trying to get into boats or out of sight.

Then a huge gust of wind came and I looked up and Smaug flew right over us.

Tilda gasped and clutched on to my hand.

"Shh. Its alright. I got you." I said and held her close.

Kili was sitting next to me and he put his hand on my shoulder.

I looked at him, I saw no fear in his eyes.

"We're going to be okay." He said.

I nodded.

Legolas then crossed my mind. Where was he? Why did he leave me at Bards and hunt this orc on his own? He could be killed.

No, dont think like that. Legolas is strong and brave. He has to be okay.

"Dragon!" A man yelled.

Screams pierced the night.

Tilda shrieked and held on to me tighter.

Suddenly Smaug came down and blew fire everywhere.

Sigrid and Tilda screamed.

More screams. Half of Lake Town was now on fire. I couldnt believe this. It was all to much. This was my first time seeing death. Watching people face a horror they cant escape.

Where was Bard? Where was Legolas?

Fire swept behind us and I jumped along with the girls.

Kili kept his hand on my shoulder.

We rowed down trying to get to open water.

"Look out!" Bofur yelled.

I looked ahead of us and saw the Master's boat. Before anyone could say anything his boat came in contact with ours, nearly knocking us all out.

The girls screamed and I grabbed unto them hoping to keep them in the boat.

Finally the boat passed and we made our way back into the water. You could feel the fear in the air. It was all terrifying. All these people wanted was to make it out of this death that had rose up on them. I wondered if Thorin's company even survived. I was actually growing quite fond of all of them even though they all seemed iffy about me at first.

I looked down at Tilda, she was so young. Where was Bard?

I knew that no matter what happened I gave Bard my word that I would care for his children like they were my own.

Fire surrounded us. Tauriel quickly led us under a house to hide from Smaug. When it was clear she gave Fili and Bofur a signal and slowly we were back out in sight.

I saw Bain and horror was written all over his face. I looked up and saw what he was looking at.

Bard!

He was on top of the bell tower. What was he doing?

"Da." Bain whispered and Tilda and Sigrid looked up and saw their father as well.

They both gasped.

"Da!" Tilda yelled.

I saw Bard shoot an arrow, piercing Smaug, but it didnt seem to have an effect on the dragon.

"He hit it! He hit the dragon! I saw it!" Kili yelled looking at me.

"No." Tauriel whispered.

"He did! He hit his mark!" Kili yelled at Tauriel.

"His arrows cannot pierce its hide." I whispered.

Kili looked at me.

I looked back at his.

Kili had hope written all over his face.

"I fear nothing can." Tauriel said.

Bain looked out into the water. I didn't like the idea of leaving Bard behind. He couldnt be left here. Especially since there was no way to kill the dragon.

Bain jumped out of the boat and ran onto the docks.

"Bain!" I yelled.

"What are you doing?" Bofur yelled and him and Fili tried to grab him.

"Come back, Bain!" Fili yelled.

"Bain!" Sigrid and Bofur yelled.

"Leave him!" Tauriel said.

I looked at her with disbelief.

"We cannot go back." She simply said before looking away from us.

I shook my head. No, this wasnt okay.

I made sure my weapons were secure on me, before standing up and jumping into the ice cold water.
