15: Todo-Dai Sagami

Start from the beginning

The boys had already found out about the practice match from the writing on the whiteboard and were continuing to improve themselves as much as they could ever since.

As they were waiting, the boys were busy warming up. Komori was waiting at his usual spot, and the managers were tidying up the clubroom since they were going to share the space with the guests. However, only Mr Yoshida, the advisor, wasn't there.

"Sagami should be arriving shortly." Komori poked his head in for a brief moment before walking back to the field. Hearing that, the managers quicked their pace to tidy the room.

"I didn't think our clubroom was this dirty." (Y/n) commented as she probably saw the third spider present. Every time she saw a pile of things that was left untouched, she had to prepare herself for something she possibly did not favor jumping out and running away.

"I mean, it is mostly used by the boys. So it was mostly expected." Umeno pointed out as she threw away a forgotten dusty tissue.

A few minutes more of waiting, a group of unfamiliar students in blue tracksuits entered the campus and were waiting by the perimeters of the field.

"Hey! Komori-san! Long time no see!" an older man with light brown short hair wearing a white shirt and green pants was leading the group into the field. He must be the coach. "Komori-san! It's Kita! It's me, Kita!" he was enthusiastically introducing himself while shaking Komori's hand. "I know."

Komori then turned towards the group of boys standing nearby, watching the interaction between the two people with seemingly opposite personalities. "He was my junior." he said before turning back to the man. "Sorry for making you come here when you placed second."

"It's totally fine." he reassured.

Meanwhile, Sekizan went up to the opponent team with (Y/n), who had just finished tidying the room, not far behind him.

"Excuse me. Who's your captain?" Sekizan asked one of the Sagami members who wasn't facing him. Turning around to the voice, he was met with a built chest instead. He panned his head up and finally saw the face they voice belonged to and jumped back in shock and from feeling intimidated.

"Oh, uh, Wada-san, Jinko's looking for you." the boy said before looking back and realizing the other figure beside Sekizan. "Ah, hello. I'm (L/n) (Y/n), a manager. Nice to meet you." (Y/n) introduced himself to the male before looking through the others present.

The male didn't say anything as he continued staring at her for a few seconds before getting pulled out of his trance when she moved towards their own managers. She chatted with them for a couple of minutes before moving back to the captain's side, now with the vice-captain present there too.

"Everyone! Run to the clubroom, now!" "Hai!" the coach instructed them and the team immediately ran to the direction pointed.

"...Top schools are different from the rest of us."

"Very..different..."

"But I'm sure we're just as determined to win." Sekizan stated as he turned around and walked towards the team. "Let's fight with everything we've got."

...

"Let's have a good game!"

Both teams have changed into their jerseys and warmed up and are now greeting each other in a line on the field. (Y/n) and Umeno were standing at their usual spot, at the sidelines with Komori not far from them. Beside them sitting on the ground were the two troublemakers. "You guys sure are inseparable" Umeno commented but didn't receive a response.

The referee blew the whistle and the game started with Sagami kicking the ball over.

Iwashimizu caught the ball but instantly got knocked down by the opponent. Hachioji took the ball but immediately got tackled by another player.

"They're gunning for him." Ebumi pointed out while still watching the game. "I feel like this game is going to end badly." (Y/n) commented as she observed the rough plays happening.

The match went on, Sagami still being rough, probably even rougher as the game went on. They didn't even look guilty doing it. They didn't even feel sorry when one of them knocked into Iwashimizu with such force, causing him to get a bloody nose.

(Y/n) quickly dropped her clipboard onto the ground and rushed towards the clubroom for the first-aid kit. It wasn't brought out in the first place because normally the players would be careful enough to not cause that much damage, until today that is.

Finally finding the first-aid kit, she quickly looked through the kit to see if the items she needed were present before rushing back outside to see the game had continued. She calmly walked back to the sidelines and placed the first aid kit down before picking her clipboard back up.

"Thanks." Komori said loud enough for her to hear. She turned her head to look at him. "I feel like something bad is going to happen later."

...

Sagami did a high punt across the field.

Oharano caught the ball "Mark!".

Gion was confused so he asked the blond beside him. "What does "mark" mean?" but instead of getting answers, he got shouted at.

"Quit asking me questions! Go ask Ume or (Y/n)!" Ebumi answered before getting hit by Umeno who was walking behind them.

"If you catch a ball kicked by your opponent inside your 22 meter line while saying "mark", you get a free kick." Umeno answered Gion. "Why?" "I don't know. I guess it's your reward for making a clean catch."

"Actually, it was made to give the players protection whenever they try to catch the high ball." (Y/n) popped in to add in her answer. "I read it up in a magazine once." "Why would they do that?"

"Once someone has marked the ball, you can't tackle them." (Y/n) answered again as she pointed to Oharano who had the opponents around him, but not going for him. "So in a way, it gives them a chance from being defense to offense."

Oharano kicked the ball back to Sagami's side, and Sagami did the same back. Once again, Oharano caught the ball while shouting "mark", but the instant he did that, he got tackled.

"But he marked it!" Umeno shouted in distraught.

The Sagami player however stopped in the midst of tackling and ended up managing to hold Oharano up. His facial expression seemed like he had made an unintentional mistake.

The referee blew the whistle, "Sagami #13, be careful!" he announced and Sagami apologized.

"Isn't tackling against the rules?" "He couldn't stop himself and ran into him." "He made it look like an accident." Umeno, Ebumi, and (Y/n) talked about it amongst themselves and Gion got himself involved in the conversation by agreeing with their words through nodding.

Something must have happened between Oharano and the Sagami player shortly after, because from one moment he was holding his shoulder and looking at the floor blankly, and the next he was shouting at his own teammates.

"If you have the time to complain to the referee, go after the ball!"

Kasuga was ready to fight the first year when he was stopped by Shichi.

Something else must have happened when Iwashimizu suddenly grabbed Sagami 14's collar before getting pulled away by Hachioji and Kashima.

Umeno rested her legs by kneeling onto the ground between the boys and the main manager.

"Do things seem a little strange to you?"
