Nahi nahi nahi… Mujhe koi tareeqa tou nikaalna hoga. Sirf khud nahi khaana… I have to make her eat too!

As if luck was on his side at that time, Bondita stopped her jeep near a marketplace.

She got down and started visiting various vendors and shopkeepers in that area, showing them Aniruddh's picture and interrogating them if they had seen someone alike.

Batuk decided that was his chance!

Picking up a stole from the jeep's backseat, he wrapped it around his face to hide his features.

Then he quickly went to a small tuck shop in the corner and asked the shopkeeper if he could give him some drinking water. The shopkeeper's young son was also sitting there playing with marbles.

The shopkeeper fetched water for him from inside and when he tried to hand it over to him, he made a strange request,

"Kaka, aap iss pani ko apne bete ke sath uss ladki tak pohancha sakte hain? Aur uske baad thoda sa paani mujhe bhi de dien."

The shopkeeper looked at him guiltily and realizing that he must be thirsty too, he cleared his throat and said,

"Maaf kerna babu, humare pas aur pani nahi hai peene ke liye. Yehi thoda sa tha jo hum aap ke liye le aye thay. Aap pee lien."

Batuk just shook his head and replied,

"Nahi kaka, uss ladki ko pani ki ziada zarurat hai. Aap please uss ko yeh pohancha dien. Aur usko mere baray mien nahi bataiye ga. Aur kaka, yeh kuch paise rakh lien."

Handing him over some money, he just went and stood under a tree at a distance to keep an eye on her.

Bondita had asked all the shopkeepers and vendors over there, but none of them seemed to have seen Aniruddh anywhere.

Feeling completely distraught, her spirit was breaking now.

She had visited so many places in all these hours, met so many people, but no one knew anything about her Pati Babu.

Helpless tears pricked her eyes, and she took the support of a pillar to wipe her eyes and compose herself again.

She was going through hell...but she was not ready to give up!

She was accumulating her strength again when a small boy came near her and tucked at her hand.

When she looked down, he sweetly offered her a container of water and said,

"Didi, paani pee lou."

Fresh tears pooled in her eyes as she thought,

Pata nahi mere Pati Babu ne kuch khaaya piya hoga ya nahi… Pata nahi woh kis haal mien honge?

Nahi Bondita...Tu time zaaya na ker… Aur yahan se aagay nikalne ki tayyari ker.

She shook her head and told the kid that she didn't want water.

"Didi, aap buht thakay hue lag rhe ho. Aik ghoont paani pee lou ge tou kia hojayega?"

The kid urged.

Feeling bad at refusing such a sweet kid and his kind gesture, she gently smiled, and laying her hand on his head, she said,

"Nahi beta, aapka shukriya. Mien thodi jaldi mien hun."

As she turned around, a strong wave of nausea and dizziness hit her hard and made her stumble.

The kid quickly held her hand and holding the pillar on the other side, Bondita managed to stabilize herself.
