Chapter 12: Letter

Start from the beginning

Lucius had been going to Borgin and Burkes for some 'unofficial' business when he noticed an armed robber threatening someone behind a counter of a small book shop. He would have turned a blind eye as he usually did in this kind of situation but he noticed the victim clutching a pendant around his neck. The sound of Apparition was heard from in front of him and he recognized the familiar and alluring pull of Dark Magic. It was not his Lord. No, this was...different.

He stalked into the store like a predator and saw the filthy piece of junk threatening one of his favourite stores. The owner was an old man and was getting tired of running the store and maintaining his role as landlord and so he sold the business. They were in debt but it was nothing Evans couldn't fix.

"Can I help you?" he asked. The head of the attacker's head swung around so fast he was surprised it didn't pop off. The man growled and attempted to grab the man behind the counter, seemingly as a hostage but Harry quickly got a hold of things and swiftly sent a wave of magic towards the man. He knocked into the wall behind him, toppling a few books over.

Lucius watched the whole thing with a mix of awe, fear and, quite frankly, amusement. The man had time to make snarky comments and sarcastic remarks, all while showing off blatant power.

The man behind the counter began to thank him profusely.

"Thank you, Lord Evans, thank you, how can I ever repay you?"

Noir just shrugged and said, "Rent is due in two weeks, remember that."

Realization hit him like a truck and he conjured a pen and parchment to begin writing. Although he would never admit it, he quite liked some of the muggle inventions such as pens. They were somewhat advanced in that prospect.

Flashback

"Lucius," Voldemort's voice echoed on the walls of Malfoy Manor's hall.

Lucius came forward and kneeled before his Lord before getting up and bowing his head, "Yes, my Lord," his voice was shaky.

"I have a task for you," Voldemort spoke in his sibilant tones.

Lucius was resisting the urge to shake. Usually, if he failed the task he would be punished with torture unimaginable.

"Yes, my lord," the blond stammered.

"This... Noir Evans, I wish to meet him," he said raising an eyebrow at the man standing before him.

"Y-yes, my lord," he stuttered, not that he had a choice. He couldn't exactly decline. His Lord may not be completely insane but he still couldn't refuse.

"Good," he replied, impassively, "You are dismissed."

Lucius bowed then all but ran out of the door.

Voldemort snickered. The man was so scared of him it was comical. He had to admit, he may have been a slight lunatic when he was 'reborn' but that was probably Wormtail's fault. The ritual said to have the flesh of a servant, not the flesh and bone. He wasn't the brightest lad. Why on Earth did he cut off his hand?

~~~
Noir nodded after some final words with the employee before securing his robe hood on his head and exiting the store. He just looked at the blond before him, holding a piece of parchment.
To his annoyance, Lucius didn't move an inch. It would seem that he had to get it himself. It was obviously for him so he just summoned it from the man's hand and apparited to Hogwarts.
Snape searched everywhere for the boy, even going into the toilets, searching for him. It was like he completely disappeared.
As he was about to give up he spotted him sitting on the windowsill, just looking outside without emotion on his face, very rare for the Gryffindor Golden Boy. As he looked at the boy he was slightly surprised when he heard his name being called.
"It is rude to stare, Professor Snape," he said emotionlessly, not even looking at the Potions Master.
The man glided over to the boy and stood behind him.
"What are you doing, Mr Potter?" he sneered, trying to keep the curiosity out of his voice. It didn't work. He had checked this corridor twice already and had not found anything. He just...appeared.
"Wouldn't you like to know," he chuckled , getting up with a blank face. He smirked at the Potions Master before leaving.
"Brat," he mumbled under his breath as he stalked off in the other direction.
~~~

After Lucius had handed him the piece of parchment he had put him under a tiny paralysis charm. Nothing major just so that he couldn't move until someone spoke to him. He snickered the entire way back to the common room. The look on his face was priceless.

Once he got back, he had found Snape searching for someone that turned out to be him. He wanted to mess with the guy. He was sure that Snape was onto him. He sat down on the windowsill, waiting for Snape to spot him.

After their rather short exchange of words, he smirked and left the guy there.

H.I.L.A.R.I.O.U.S.

"Lucius," the Dark Lord addressed at a Death Eater meeting the next week, "How has your mission been going?"

"My Lord," he bowed low, "I have given Lord Evans an invitation but he has not responded yet."

"I see," he paused, "How exactly did you manage to contact him?"

"My Lord, I happened to come across him in Knockturn Alley one week ago."

Voldemort nodded, "And I'm sure that you are doing everything in your power to contact him?"

"Yes, my Lord," he stammered. It was completely true as he himself was curious about the man.

Severus couldn't help but think. Noir appeared the same day Harry disappeared. Not to mention that Harry disappeared on the weekends, the only days that the bar was open and almost the entire Yule break, the weeks that the bar was open. It was preposterous. Harry Potter? The Boy-Who-Lived? The Gryffindor Golden Boy?

He mentally slapped himself before returning his attention to the meeting.
