My grandfather was a father
When my father
Was farther
Away from me
Like my dreams when I was six
Like how instruments
Were strangers to me
My grandfather used to be in a band
He introduced a guitar book to me
When I was injured, I asked my grandfather for them
Mangoes were given to me
My grandfather wasn't strong
But when I wouldn't walk
He would carry me
Or at least he used to
Before his love for pig's blood and goat meat
Caught up to him
Before a sickness so sweet yet so deadly
Consumed him
He heard it before he felt it
It warned him
He told my grandmother not worry
And he went farther away from me
