you can't afford to dream

balls of fire look small in the distance
humongous when it is up in your face
befriending one will leave you hesitant
when its trail isn't determined by space

this particular star looks huge afar
and as it nears, it suffocates you in fear
the mind and heart are then thrown into war
only the things beyond your reach are clear

for this star is apart constellations
it isn't lounging in asteroid fields
this light isn't dead, but a damnation
for all your true wishes is what it yields

and the stars you keep they'd not let you sleep
but the price of dreams is in pockets deep
