I didn't see you after lunch.

Tom told me you felt sick and went home. I had to take over your shift ánd do mine. Luckily it wasn't very busy.

When I went home that evening after closing the shop, I saw you sitting on the beach, toes buried in the sand. I knew you weren't sick. I could hardly resist the urge to sit with you, but kept walking. I walked past you and if I didn't knew any better, I could hear a faint cry coming from your place.

But I let myself believe it were just the waves.
