Wilbur looked up from the book, smiling softly at his son.

"No?" The man laughed lightly, "I thought you wanted a different ending?"

His ginger haired son huffed, crossing his arms, "yeah! But I didn't mean let the heros die!"

Wilbur hummed, "so do you want the original story again Fundy?"

The boy pouted, but nodded. He settled back into his bed. Wilbur thought he looked adorable with his sheets pulled up to his chin. The man turned back to the book, starting to read again.

"The god caught the weapon with his bare hands. He smiled at the enderman hybrid. Ranboo's eyes widened in shock.

"Nice try, little one." XD laughed lightly.

Ranboo was thrown back into the side of one of the houses. Luckily, he righted himself but before he hit, managing to dig his scythe into the wall to prevent his inevitable, and according to my son, boring, demise in the lake."

"That's also not how it goes!" Fundy told his father.

"Do you want me to finish the story?" Wilbur smiled lightly.

Fundy froze, but nodded.

Wilbur looked down again, "Tubbo looked up at his friend with a gasp.

"Ranboo!" He shouted.

The enderman gave him a small smile as he pulled himself up onto the roof, "I'm okay!"

Tommy then ran in. He swung the Axe of Peace at the masked man. And to his surprise, it hit.

The white mask of the god flew off. He slowly stood, blood dripping down his forehead. The rage held in the gods green eyes was enough to kill an entire army. But it only served to bolster the boys resolve.

The god could be killed.

So the boys rushed in again. XD couldn't block quickly enough after the first blow. And to his growing horror he realized, the Goddess of Death was right. He was going to die at the hands of children.

The god fell to his knees, unable to stand through the onslaught. The boys didn't give any chance for XD to defend himself, knowing if they gave any room, it would be over.

And then, with one final swing from Ranboo, the scythe lodged itself deep into DreamXD's chest. The god sighed softly as he felt his life drain away. He saw a beautiful woman walking towards him.

"You foolish boy." She smiled, "come on, your time is up little one."

She reached her hand out, taking XD's carefully in her own. The former god felt himself be lifted to his feet. He knew it was over. He had lost. The scene around him faded, the last thing in his vision was the Goddess of Death and her kind smile.

The boys watched as XD's eyes fell closed. Ranboo pulled his scythe free, cringing from the blood that coated the blade. It was eerily quiet. There was no fanfare. No big victory. Just death.

"I-is everyone okay?" Ranboo asked, tearing his eyes away from the body.

Tubbo nodded, gripping his sword tighter, "I want to go home..."

"Me too." Tommy sighed, letting his axe drop.

Ranboo nodded. The boys heard a rush of wings. They barely had time to react before all three were enveloped in sleek black feathers. Phil was there, holding them all tightly and shielding them from the body.

"Tommy! Ranboo! Tubbo!" Phil cried, pulling away but still keeping his wings around them "how!? What!? Are you okay!?"

Ranboo just nodded, "we just want to go home..."

Phil's expression softened. The boys looked like they had been through hell. Dirty, bloody, and tired. The winged man sighed softly. It was over now.

Philza teleported the four of them back to the camp. Tommy and Tubbo nearly fell as the nausea hit them. Phil steadied them, telling them to go to the infirmary while he got some tea for them.

By the time he got back, they boys had fallen asleep. Shroud and Michael were curled up on their beds. Phil smiled softly. When they wake up, they'll get to walk the world they saved. They'll enjoy the sunlight and grass that hadn't been seen in many, many years.

When they wake up, they will be heros."

Wilbur close the book, watching his son stifle a yawn. He laughed lightly.

"Better?" Wilbur asked.

Fundy nodded, curling up under his sheets, "yeah. Thanks dad. You always tell the best stories."

Wilbur shrugged as he set the boom aside to tuck the boy into bed, "the best stories are true."

Fundy giggled, "I wish. I wanna learn magic or have wings. No! I wanna be a fox!"

Wilbur laughed, settling his son back down, "Maybe one day I'll teach you magic."

Fundy hummed as he layed back down, "maybe..."

Wilbur grabbed his guitar, plucking a few chords as Fundy drifted off. The orange haired boy was snoring softly by the time the strings of the instruments started glowing. A soft blue filled the room, following the soft sound of guitar.

The song continued even after Wilbur set down the guitar. He walked out of his son's room into his own. The man walked up to a wall, the only one with nothing on it, and drew a line up the side. A blue line appeared, growing into a rift large enough for Wilbur to step through.

Almost as soon as he walked through,he was bombarded with a ball of red and white feathers.

"Wil!" Tommy yelled, pulling his brother further into the Daessempii, "come on! Phil, and Techno are waiting! Ranboo and Tubbo said they'd join after they put Michael to bed, but I wanna know everything! It's been too long since you visited!"

Wilbur laughed, "it's only been six months Tommy! Sorry for not coming sooner, I've been busy!"

"Yeah yeah, busy with your band." Tommy stuck his tongue out as he lifted himself into the air, "when are you gonna bring your son here?"

"Soon I hope." Wilbur smiled, "I think seven is still a bit young to fully understand how he's half fox."

Tommy scoffed, "I think it'd be easier. Try being seventeen and finding out you're magic!"

"Try being twenty four!" Wilbur laughed, nudging his brother.

The two laughed as they walked into the small cabin. Phil turned as the door opened, his wings fluffing up as he smiled.

"Wil!" Phil hugged his son, "how have you been!?"

Wilbur laughed lightly, "raising a son by myself is challenging, but one read of The Three Heros and he's out like a light."

Phil nodded, "Well, Sally is proud of you. She wishes she could be with you, but the hospital is important."

"I understand!" Wilbur told him, "hopefully soon Fundy will be old enough to visit soon."

The door swung open again, "we're here!"

The sound of hooves on wood floors came through, "sorry we're late, Michael wouldn't settle down!"

Ranboo and Tubbo walked into the room. They smiled when they saw Wilbur, the shorter of the two running to hug the tall man.

"Hey Tubbo! Did you miss me that much?" Wilbur laughed lightly.

Tubbo laughed as he took a step back, "dude, shut up."

Wilbur looked between the two boys, noticing a gold band on each of their hands, "hold on a second, what do we have here?"

Ranboo blushed a dark purple as Tubbo returned to his side. The shorter boy chuckled.

"We got married." Ranboo told him.

"It started as just for tax reasons, but then we adopted Michael and, uh, yeah " Tubbo smiled.

Tommy hovered over his two friends, "yeah, and they didn't fuckin tell me cause I was on a mission!"

"Tommy!" Phil yelled, "how many times do I have to tell you!? No flying inside!"

Tommy groaned as he dropped to the ground, "Dad! Come on!"

"You know how Techno is." Phil rolled his eyes.

There was a soft snort, "and what am I like?"

"Techno!" Wilbur gasped, turning to hug the piglin.

Techno laughed lightly, "good to see you too Wil. Foods almost done."

Tommy gasped, flying into the kitchen. Techno shouted after him, telling him not to fly around the house. Meanwhile, Phil, Ranboo, and Tubbo made their way into the dining room, chatting amongst themselves.

Wilbur smiled to himself. The best stories are based on the truth after all.
