T.W.: burning

Tommy woke up to cool stone pressing against his back. He didn't remember falling asleep last night. After everything that happened, he didn't know he could sleep. Tommy stretched, and something fell to the ground. He picked it up carefully. It was Wilbur's pin... Where was Wilbur?

"Tommy?" Ranboo yawned, trying to stretch out.

Tubbo whined in his sleep, curling up closer to Ranboo. Tommy burst out in quiet laughter.

"Uh-" Ranboo looked panicked.

"You are legally not allowed to move until he wakes up!" Tommy tried to stifle his laughter.

"Um!?" Ranboo looked even more panicked.

Tubbo groaned, burying his face in Ranboo's shirt, "shut up... Too early..."

Ranboo looked at Tommy with wide eyes, "what do I do!?"

Tommy rolled his eyes, gently shaking Tubbo's shoulder, "hey, Tubzo, wake up!"

Tubbo pushed Tommy's hand away, "not now Tommy..."

"Come on!" Tommy huffed, trying to pull Tubbo up, "we have to get up!"

Tubbo's just held tightly onto Ranboo, refusing to get up. Ranboo tried to push the shorter boy away, but he wouldn't budge.

"Tubbo, please," Ranboo sighed, "we have to find the axe..."

"Screw the axe man..." Tubbo whined, "I wanna sleep..."

"Okay, wake up." Ranboo said, sparks emitting from his fingertips.

Tubbo jumped up at the sparks touched the back of his neck. He scrambled away from the taller, wide awake now.

"What the fuck!?" Tubbo gasped, rubbing his neck.

Ranboo shrugged, stitting up, "You wouldn't get up."

"You're a dick." Tubbo pouted.

Tommy chuckled, "how are you feeling? After everything yesterday..."

Tubbo shrugged, "I'm... Pretty okay actually."

"Let me check your arm." Ranboo said, holding out his hand.

Tubbo gave his injured arm to Ranboo. The taller boy carefully unwrapped the bandages. The wounds on Tubbos arm had healed over, leaving large, pink scars.

"Woah..." Tommy grimaced.

"Yo." Tubbo smiled lightly, "that's sick."

Ranboo sighed, "it almost killed you Tubbo."

The shorter boy shrugged, "at least I got a cool scar out if it."

Ranboo stood, shaking his head, "let's just find the axe."

All the boys stood, making their way further into the cave. It grew darker the further they went. Ranboo summoned a ball of light, prompting Tommy and Tubbo to try as well.

"Imagine gathering light in your hands." Ranboo instructed.

Tubbo threw his hands to his sides, "I'm trying!"

Tommy stuck his tongue out in concentration. A small spark of red light flickered between his hands. He gasped in excitement, but the lack of concentration caused the light to fizzle out.

"Oh, come on!" Tommy cried, "I had it!"

Ranboo chuckled, "just keep trying. People in my world usually grow up learning magic, preforming little spells like these since they could walk, but it's much harder to learn once you've grown up a little."

"Did you grow up learning magic?" Tubbo asked, opting to just walk instead of practicing.

Ranboo shrugged lightly, "I, um... I might have... I don't really remember what I was like when I was little. I was alone until Philza found me. He taught me magic."

The cave opened up into a large, open room. A large lake surrounded an island in the middle. The top of the cave opened up to the sky, tinted a warm orange-pink as the sun rose.

"Woah..." Tommy gasped softly as they walked towards the shore.

"There it is." Ranboo pointed to the island.

A beautiful axe was perched in the center of the island. The blade reflected the light of the water, casting swirling blue light down the handle, carefully wrapped in red leather.

Tommy smiled, marching towards the axe, "let's go!"

"Tommy, wait!" Ranboo called out.

Just as Tommy was about to step in the water, flames erupted from the lake. The water dissolved into lava as the illusion melted away. Out of the fire walked Sapnap, a dark obsidian sword in his hand.

Tommy stumbled back. Sapnap stepped forward, flames lighting on his sword. The blonde could feel the heat from fire almost burning his skin.

"Tommy!" Ranboo jumped in front of his friend, fully transformed.

The flaming obsidian sword clashed harshly against the scythe as Ranboo blocked. The blonde boy fell back, only to be caught by Tubbo, who had also transformed.

"Get to the axe!" Ranboo yelled, throwing Sapnap off of him.

"How!?" Tommy yelled.

"Try magic or something!?" Ranboo shouted, blocking another swing.

Tommy turned to Tubbo, "you got anything!?"

"I-I don't know!?" Tubbo said, "Ranboo said magic is about, like, intent and visualization of some shit!"

"That doesn't help Tubbo!" Tommy cried.

Tubbo's eyes widened, "TOMMY WATCH OUT!"

Tommy felt himself get pushed back. He heard Tubbo screaming in pain. He fell hard on the ground, watching the scene unfolding in shock.

Ranboo was down, blood pooling under his human form. His scythe was far from his hand. A useless object without it's wielder.

Tubbo was screaming. His right half was enveloped in flames. Something his sword couldn't block.

Tommy didn't know what to do. Sapnap stepped over his burning friend. The blonde boy scrambled back, nearly falling into the lava lake. Sapnap raised his sword. Tommy was trapped. He raised his arm in a weak defense.

But the strike never came. Tommy opened his eyes to see what he could only describe as an angel. The Angel fought Sapnap. And was winning. The Angel pushed Sapnap back, throwing waves of wind from the dark wings. The force extinguished Sapnap's flames with a powerful blast. The Angel placed a hand on Sapnap's forehead. The last thing Tommy saw before passing out was a flash of green and black feathers.
