It was almost the end of summer. Second grade was right about the corner. He was one of those kids who'd wake up before the crack of dawn. He'd throw a crumpled piece of paper outside his window, across the narrow gap of land and through the window of the other house. Basically, Jenny's room. Within a few minutes, she'd be up and ready for their early escapade. He'd sneak out of the window and they'd together go to the small lake situated inside the deepening woods. It wasn't exactly far.

"Can we feed the frogs this time?" Jenny asked, especially since she had been collecting quite a few insects from the past two days. She used a small lunch box to store them. Which he hoped she'd throw afterwards. It wouldn't necessarily be funny if some unfortunate being was given lunch in it. "But they're only bugs!" she'd exclaim while they rode their cycles.
