Hawkwood mourns student death

Hawkwood student Apolline "Poppy" Prevost, age 20, was found dead on the Hawkwood campus Tuesday morning. The school has no further details to release at this time, pending an investigation by local police.

Prevost was a second-year student at Hawkwood, majoring in languages. According to family, Prevost made friends everywhere she went and was highly involved on campus.

"Poppy will be missed by everyone who knew her," her father, Montgomery Prevost, said in a statement to The Observer.

Prevost is survived by her father, her mother, and her brother.

Prevost's death comes shortly after a massive fire on campus, which burnt down Hawkwood's only restaurant. Police confirm that Prevost was a witness to the incident. No individuals were harmed in the fire.

At this time, police are not ruling out any cause of death. They ask anyone with information regarding Prevost or the fire to contact their tip line.
