Chapter 36

I didn't know what to expect, it was Akutagawa, but this was definitely not it.

Akutagawa hugged me tight, like I was a dream and I was going to fade within a second.

"You're alive." Akutagawa muttered as I was broken from my shock.

"Yeah I am." I said as Akutagawa pulled back.

His hand gripped my chin.

"I thought you died." Akutagawa muttered as I smiled.

"It's going to take a bit more to kill me." I said as Akutagawa leaned forward and kissed me.

I wrapped my arms around Akutagawa's neck, pulling him closer when a loud cough interrupted us.

We pulled apart, our faces flushing red as Dazai-san stared at us.

"Are you done?" He asked as I looked away and closed the truck door.

Dazai-san continued staring at me as I coughed.

"So, did the punch hurt?" I asked as Dazai-san's eyes widened in shock.

I watched as Dazai-san's face turned slightly red too as he scowled.

"Back to the mission." Dazai-san said.

"Well?" Dazai-san asked as he looked at Akutagawa.

Akutagawa paused before speaking, "I'll carry out the mission."

I saw Atsushi-kun's mouth fall open as he stared at Akutagawa in shock.

"It's been four years since you've been under my command, huh?" Dazai-san asked, smirking at Akutagawa.

"I hope to see you a little more capable now." Dazai-san said as I rolled my eyes.

However, Akutagawa's eyes turned hard and cold. "Yes sir." He replied.

"You're actually Akutagawa, right?" Atsushi-kun asked as I laughed.

"Yeah." Akutagawa replied.

"You're going to cooperate with me in battle?" Atsushi-kun asked, frowning at Akutagawa.

"Yeah." Akutagawa replied again.

"Oh wow, colour me shocked!" I exclaimed.

"Now that wasn't so hard, was it?" I asked, hands on my hips.

"What did you have for dinner last night?" Atsushi-kun asked Akutagawa, ignoring me.

"Yeah." Akutagawa replied again as I face palmed.

"Dude..." Atsushi-kun said, face full of disappointment.

I rolled my eyes.

"So since I've given us and extra 24 hours, we should plan-" I started but was interrupted by Akutagawa.

"You're the one who made the effect last longer?" Akutagawa asked as I turned to him.

"Yeah, now carrying on." I said as Akutagawa blinked at me.

However, the truck came to a stop as I sighed.

"We seriously spent an entire truck ride, talking about whether we would cooperate or not." I explained, throwing my hands up in the air.

"Why do I even brother?" I asked.

Kunikida-san opened the truck door from outside.

"We're here." He said as I rolled my eyes, jumping out.

"And we just wasted a lot of time." I said as Kunikida-san chuckled.

I walked into the forest, careful of where I placed my feet.
