CHAPTER 4

"Hey, Amber," I said in a slow hushed voice. She hummed. "Breakfast is ready."

"Later." she tiredly said and covered herself with her covers.

I rolled my eyes. "We're gonna be late."

"Late for what?" she asked and I suppressed the urge to choke her.

"School."

"Classes start at 8 o'clock, I thought I already told you that." I sighed. "It's too early, Jewel. Just go back to sleep."

"Fine." I huffed. "I'm going to school by myself." Sabi ko at humalukipkip.

"Okay. Good luck." I heard her snoring, once more.

I was the one who was always overworked, and yet, here, I am widely awake. I left her in a room and went back to the kitchen so I could have my meal.

It was already 6:50 and they were still not awake. I have decided that I would go to school by myself. I already knew the route, so I didn't have to worry about getting lost. I greeted the site of Montezalde University with a gasp. The school was magnificent, just like my old school. Old buildings in red bricks and some in white cement. Golden lines were plastered on the school with the word 'Montezalde University'.

Entering inside was like a fever dream. Students walked around the campus carrying their notes and bags. Some laughing and chatting in the grass. My gaze was everywhere around the campus, trying to find the campus of the dean.

"Bago ka ba dito?" I turn my attention to the guy. His hair was brown and messy. He has dimples as he beamed at me. He's also tall. Very tall.

"Oo," I answered. "Do you know where the president's office is?"

"President's office." He said and put his hand on my shoulders before placing me in the right direction and guiding me. "Go left and straight then go right. That's where the dean's office is." My brows furrowed because I didn't understand anything.

"Uh-"

"I should lead you." He offered and I nodded my head. "So what's your name, miss?"tanong niya pero hindi ako sumagot. "Oh okay, you don't trust me. I am Kaizer Rufus Lopez."sabi niya at naglahad ng kamay. However, I just gazed at it. "And I'm not flirting with you. I am already taken."sabi niya at tumawa.

"Jewel. Jewelry Grace Bernard Smith." I smiled.

"Jewel. Nice name." He smirked.

"Thanks."

"So which school did you come from?" My brows furrowed. So many questions. It's unnerving.

"Bernard University."

"That's in the U.S., right?" he asked and I nodded.

"And your family owns that school?" I nodded, once more. "Woah! Just like my best friend, he also owns this school. Jace Angelo Montezalde, does it ring any bells?" My brows arched. Does he not realize that I'm new here?

"No?" he asked and I shook my head. 'Well, it's not shocking since that guy is very lowkey." he chuckled.

"Okay, you can go now," I said when we arrived at the office of the dean. I want him far away from me. He's too...talkative.

"So cold. You don't want me to accompany you?" He grinned, but I just gazed at him with no emotion.

"No, I don't want your girlfriend seeing us. I might experience a cat fight and I don't want that." I answered and crossed my arms.

"Ang advance mo mag-isip." He laughed and decided to mess up my hair. My breath hitched and I glared at him. What. The. Actual. F*ck?!

He noticed my stare and only responded with a laugh. "See you around, Jewel."
