A few days later, the refugees were all sent to cultivate land and secure food but that couldn't prevent the food shortage, in the following 846 the central government launched a campaign to retake Wall Maria using refugees there were 250,000 of them, almost a fifth of the total population, however, only about a hundred survived, with their sacrifice the food shortage has improved, albeit a little, for those who survived

The blonde boy looked at his Grandfather's hat which now is his only remembrance left of him, his lips unintentionally quavered as he welcomed the stinging pain coming from his blue ocean eyes, he felt the tears trickle down his pale cheeks
He was the only family that he had left, Why? Why did faith also have to get him? Did he do something so terrible to deserve all this? Well it sure felt like it, it felt like a weight crashed upon his shoulders, a weight of guilt and he didn't even know why he felt it crush his heart when he did nothing wrong
He then buried his face in the precious hat letting the remaining scent of his grandfather engulf him as the uncontrollable broken sobs and whimpers left his mouth, his shoulders timidly shook as broken sounds came past his lips
He felt a small soft pressure in his shoulders making him look up a little from the hat to see the h/c girl now sitting beside him, the girl looked at him giving him soft smile before looking away, it was a simple physical contact but it sent waves of emotions to the blonde boy
Based on experience the girl knew that sometimes it's better to let your company give comfort than your words and that's exactly what she did, she sat there as the boy cried his heart out unintentionally bringing warmth to his heart
"The Titans are to blame" the green-eyed boy stated getting the young girl's attention, the girl let out a soft sigh tilting her head up as the crown of her head hit the wall softly
"If only we could defeat them, we would regain our place in this world" he stated as he took a seat beside the two kids while Armin stared at the hat of his grandfather looking deep in thought
"I'm applying for the military training next year" the green-eyed boy firmly stated making the young girl's eyes widened while Armin let out a tiny yelp of shock but as to Mikasa, the scarfed girl just closed her eyes inhaling deeply, she knew the boy all to well, of course this was bound to happen
"I'll become strong enough to fight them" he declared determination laced onto his voice, Armin looked at him then back to the hat if his grandfather giving him more than enough reasons to fight as well
"Me too" He stated making the young girl's eyes widened once again, she knew that the blonde boy had the capability to do something he doubts himself, seeing and hearing this made a pride swell in her chess but worry as well
"Armin?!" The green-eyed boy said in disbelief in hearing what his friend has said
"Me too!" The blonde boy exclaimed tears still streaming down his pale cheeks as his eyes clouded with determination
"I'll join you too," the scarfed girl said finally spoke up, making the green-eyed boy speak up
"Mikasa? You don't have to! You said survival is the most important thing" He quickly said
"Yes, and I will be there to ensure your safety," she said staring right back at his green eyes
"Then, in that case, I as well will join," the girl said making all heads turn her way, no she can't join them, not that she isn't capable of it, their more than sure she was strong but they just couldn't risk it
"No you won't, you'll be safe he-" the scarfed girl was about to say but was cut off by the girl, she knew all too well what she's gonna say to her
"And how do you ensure my safety? You won't be there so I'll be alone, who knows what might happen to me, humans are capable of being as evil as those giant devil creatures outside" she said making, what she said was true as much as they didn't want to say it, humans are easily drowned by the wave, whether it was a wave of greed or hatred it doesn't matter if they lose there loved ones or there self, if it makes them categorized different from the unprivileged then they would willingly be drowned
As the victim of it the girl knew everything about the greed that controls people, as she grew up in this world, the facts and stories that were untold slowly unfold, she was forced to bear all the pain and she just couldn't complain, her endurance is repeatedly put to a test and as always, she can't protest, she was left wounded every day and nobody even took a second glance
They suddenly felt a small sting of pain in their heart seeing the girl look at the floor blankly looking deep in thought but it was obvious it wasn't the good kind, the three of them looked together silently agreeing
They didn't want to risk it but realizing how cruel this world would be bearable with all of them side by side
"Alright, we'll all join" he declared making the girl look up giving them a soft smile
