Chapter 1: Outpost 23

Start from the beginning

As soon as he said that he trained his sights onto a siren fighter and pulled the trigger when it came into firing range. This was followed by the sound of other aa guns and the few naval guns that could be used for anti air firing into the clear blue September sky that was now filled with, standard and tracer rounds as well as plumes of black smoke. Shell and bullet casings littered the ground from the constant firing as the flaming wrecks of siren aircraft fell from the sky and into the ocean or crashing into the outpost but for the amount shoot down was not enough as the siren aircraft launched their missiles or drop bombs onto fortified positions strafing men who got caught out in the open with 20mm cannon fire.

Bombs started to fall onto the Sous-lieutenants position but he didn't care as he kept firing away but was unfortunately peppered by shrapnel to both legs, left arm and to the torso with his plate catching some of the shrapnel. As his blood oozed out he kneeled down and opened the medical pouch on his best and started to bandage his wounds to the best of his ability before looking to his right only to see his squad mate he was just talking to a few minutes ago completely shredding away as the soil he once stood was no stained a crimson red with bits of flesh and body parts scattered about with his intestines hanging out of his torso. Upon seeing this he looked at the rest of his squad mates only to see that they had met a similar fate or were still alive but barely holding onto life. The ones that were still alive cried out for help as the Sous-lieutenant walked up the nearest badly injured soldier.

"Je ne veux pas faire l'objet d'expériences"  (I don't want to be experimented on.) Said a brown hair, brown eyed Caucasian male whose body was missing vast amounts of flesh and had burns all over as blood oozed out and stained his uniform as well as the dirt he laid upon.

Without a second thought he drew his Glock 17 Gen 5 FR and pulled the trigger sending a 9x19 Parabellum round into his head as his body fell limp onto the ground devoid of any life before ending the lives of his other squad mates as their request was the same as they didn't want to be experimented on by the sirens and they knew that you don't join the French Foreign Legion without accepting the risks that come with the job. After killing off all of his squad mates Sous-lieutenant Vogel reached for his radio.

"Commandement, ici le second lieutenant. Vogel, quels sont mes ordres?)" (Command this is Second lieutenant. Vogel, what are my orders?) He asked.

"Quel est le statut de votre section?" (What's the status of your section?) Inquired his Commander.

"Ils sont tous morts, je suis le seul qui reste. (They're all dead, I'm the only one left.) He stated. "Je vous le redemande, quels sont mes ordres?" (I'll ask again what are my orders?)

"L'évacuation a été autorisée mais va prendre un certain temps d'ici là tenir votre position jusqu'au dernier souffle." (Evac has been authorized but is going to take some time until then hold your position until the last breath.) Ordered his Commander.

"Copie" (Copy.) Replied the Sous-lieutenant. Before mounting an undamaged Oerlikon and returning fire into the siren aircraft that flew over the outpost. The gun fire from the Oerlikon was periodically drowned out by the sound of naval guns firing into the mass of siren ships that now converged and surrounded the outpost as well as the occasional explosion being heard followed by screams as the soldiers who were manning those guns were being burned alive as the munitions coked off inside their metal tin cans peppering them with burning hot shrapnel as they desperately tried to escape. As this was going on the Sous-lieutenant stayed glued to his position firing into the air all the while being hit by shrapnel and 20mm cannon fire. As he continued to follow his orders the reporter started filming the scene with the Sous-lieutenant being the main highlight all the while staying put in the trench she was in. But their was something off about him that went unnoticed unless you were looking for the fine details and that was he was giving off an orangery red aura pulsing ominously as if oozing blood as he body was consumed by a black shadow.
