"Hi" Meredith smiled "M-Mer"
"Hi Mer" Kathleen said "Do you want a cookie? Mom made them" She smiled
Meredith shook her head. Food made her nauseous, that's why she still had the feeding tube
"It's okay" Lizzy smiled "Amy said you like watching movies"
Meredith smiled and nodded "B-Bwa-ve"
"Derek suggested we would watch Brave and now it's her favourite" Amelia giggled "But she likes Frozen too"
Meredith nodded, being relieved that Amelia was doing the talking for her
"Let's watch Cinderella!" Nancy smiled
"Because you're the evil stepsister?" Mark said which made everyone laugh, Meredith included
"Keep it decent, guys" Christopher laughed "Derek, are you starting the DVD?"
"Okay dad" He smiled and turned on the movie. They add cuddled up against each other on the couch as blankets covered them
At the end of the movie, Meredith started whimpering in Carolyn's embrace
"I think she's due for another round of pain meds in a bit" Carolyn whispered
Christopher looked at his watch "It's still an hour before she can get them" He frowned
"Shh, try to sleep a bit" Carolyn whispered against Meredith
Amelia, who was also in Carolyn's arms held Meredith's hand tight and gently rubbed her friend's arm
The older girls, who were curled up around their father, noticed Meredith's whimpering and finally, Kathleen spoke up "Is she okay?"
"Yeah. Just give her a minute" Christopher whispered
"Meredith, do you want some water?" Kathleen asked
"I- uh-" Meredith seemed confused
"Meredith, are you okay?" Carolyn asked
"K-kay" It took a while before she responded
Christopher frowned as he looked
"P-ain" She whispered
"Your head again?" Carolyn asked
Meredith nodded
"I'll give you your meds soon, dear" Carolyn whispered
Meredith shifted in Carolyn's arms
"Is your back hurting you?"
Meredith nodded again
Carolyn rubbed her hand over Meredith's neck as the little girl fell asleep again
"I don't wanna see her in so much pain" Amelia frowned
"I know, baby" Carolyn sighed and kissed Amelia's forehead

Around the evening, Meredith was finally feeling a bit better as she and Amelia were playing with their dolls on the couch
"You are my best friend, Meredith" Amelia smiled and held Meredith's hand
"M-ine t-t-oo" Meredith smiled back
Amelia hugged her friend as Christopher came to get them "Dinner's ready" He announced
He picked up Meredith and Amelia and carried them to the kitchen. He placed Meredith onto the chair next to Carolyn and made sure she was sitting comfortable
"Do you want apple juice?" Katleen asked Meredith who nodded in response
Kathleen filled the cup they had placed on the table for Meredith with a straw in it
"Thank" Meredith smiled at Kathleen
"You're welcome. I'm happy you're here" She smiled before filling the other glasses
"Here we are with the food" Carolyn smiled and placed all the food on the table with a little help from Lizzy and Nancy
Meredith looked at the large table, not even being used to eating at the same timer with her mother but some nanny feeding her
"Hey, you only have to eat what you want but keep in mind, we do have some dessert" Carolyn smiled
Meredith nodded and Amelia grabbed some mashed potatoes and applesauce for her friend
"Thank A-Amy" Meredith smiled. She lifted her hand weakly to scoop up some potatoes and stuffed it in her mouth as the whole family started eating
After a while, Carolyn noticed that Meredith had a lot of difficulty scooping up the food "Need a hand?"
Meredith hesitated. She wanted to say no and eat the food by herself like she was raised to do but her body was failing her so she gave in
"Thank" Meredith smiled
"You're welcome" Carolyn smiled and helped Meredith with eating
