Thanks to the universe, I somehow managed to maintain my self control and spend some time with Amelia before it was almost her curfew. She told me how she loved the song especially my voice and that did a lot to boost my ego. Moments came where she was just talking and I couldn't really listen, I was simply looking at her and wondering to myself what's going on with me, it's dangerous how I keep on loving her more as time passes. Is that normal? I'll have to ask someone that knows a lot about things like this. But who? I'll just have to...

"Mason!" I heard Amelia yell, she must have been calling my name for quite a while, I raised my eyebrows at her "what are you thinking of?? I've been calling your name for only God knows how long!"

"You" I said

"Huh?"

"Yes" I stood up "I was thinking of you"

I watched a tint of red creep onto her cheeks and couldn't help but smile at her expression, could she just at least try to not being so attractive? Geeze!

"It's almost curfew, we have to get going" she spoke softly

She was right, it's past eight, almost nine and her mother specifically agreed to add an extra hour from her usual curfew. I cannot be selfish, her mother will probably want to spend so time with her daughter on her birthday. I got up and held her hand "before we go, here's one last thing, your birthday gift"

"What birthday gift, all this was more than enough Mason" she said

"With you? no, nothing is enough because you deserve everything, every single thing" I reached into my back pocket and took out a jewelry box

I opened it and revealed a rose gold Cartier love bracelet along with it's follow along screw driver, she looked at me and I couldn't read her expression but something told me she wouldn't want to accept such an extensive gift. But I knew she'd hesitate that's why I got this, I would have gotten something very expensive but I knew she wouldn't take it so this is what I got. This thing shouldn't be an issue, should it? It was too cheap for my liking

"I really appreciate this but I really don't think I can take this Mason, she tried retracting her hand but I kept them firmly in mine "it's too much"

"No Amelia" I held her hand "this is a birthday gift from me to you, you can abandon it in your drawer but just don't make me take it back" I slipped the bracelet on her hand and kissed the back of her hand "look at it and remember me, will you?"

She hesitated for a moment looking at it and back at me. She must be wondering how much it cost me, she probably is calculating it but I'm sure it'll be devalued in her calculation. If she knew the actual price.... She definitely wouldn't keep it "okay" she finally said

"And you'll never return it to me, keep it with you. Promise?" I brought out my right pinky finger

"Promise" our pinky fingers connected and we both started laughing at each other for absolutely no reason at all

About fifteen minutes later we arrived at Amelia's house. I opened the door and helped her out of the car. She must be exhausted from all the activities we covered today, I helped her carry the dresses she had changed in the bag and stopped at the door.

"Mason, thank you so much for today. Today is the best birthday I have had in a very long time" she said looking deeply into my eyes

"I'll keep saying it Amelia, you deserve everything" I said "shall I escort you in?"

"Don't bother, I'm good. Mom must be waiting for me," she pulled me in a for a hug so I buried myself between her neck and shoulder. I gave her a gentle squeeze as she met go, and began to turn around. I watched her walk towards the door

"Amelia!" She tuned around, without warning I stepped towards her and have her a kiss on the cheek "What do you think about accepting being my girlfriend? You don't have to make the decision now, just think about it. Take your time. It'll mean the world to me if you said yes" I whispered into her ear. My heart beat ferociously as I walked back toward the car "happy birthday princess! Long live you" with that I took off

Amelia's POV

My heart thumped harshly as I thought of what he said. He is right, I need time. I have to think about this.

I twisted the door knob but it wouldn't open. The door was locked. I quickly took out my phone and realized mother had called me several times and even sent messages, there were also a couple of missed calls from my brothers and texted happy birthday messages for me

Mom: Amelia where are you and why aren't you picking up?

Mom: AMELIA!!!!

Mom: There's an emergency at the hospital, I'll be back very late

Mom: don't miss your curfew either way!

Mom: the key is in the flower pot by the top right

Mom: I'm worried Amelia

Mom: Call me back when you're back home

I quickly took out the key, unlocked the door and slammed it shut behind me when I entered the house. I quickly called my mother's number hoping she'd pick but I guess she is very busy with work right now and cannot answer. I settled to reply to her text messages.
I walked to the kitchen and opened the fridge. Inside was a pan of untouched lasagna that mother probably made for me and beside it was a medium sized red velvet cake with 'happy birthday Lia!' written on it

I couldn't possibly eat the cake alone so I microwaved the portion of the lasagna I could eat and went upstairs to my room once I was done. I looked down at the Cartier bracelet and decided to do my research and uncover how much this bracelet is exactly. Probably around five thousand dollars if I'm not mistaken.

After digging I discovered it was a Cartier love bracelet with pavé diamond and omg!!!!! It costs way more than I thought, the starting prize is usually around twenty thousand dollars!!! What the heck??? I have to return this, I simply can't keep it. I have done nothing to deserve this. Then I remembered I promised to keep it.... Omggg why??

It was after my research that I realized there was something on my bed. It was a book bouquet, it was bouquet made of flowers and novels that seemed oddly familiar but I haven't read. I stood up and wondered where it came from, was it my mom that got it for me? Why didn't she give me earlier? I picked up the bouquet and looked through the books. Aha! Now I understand why the books seemed familiar, few weeks ago I went to a bookshop and all the book I had touched wanting to get but ended up leaving is right here. How did mother know about that???

I unraveled the bouquet and took out a book, I opened the first page and was shocked. It was a limited edition signed copy of guilty by Frank Anne! I cannot believe it, how did mother get her hands on this??? This needed reservations and to get spots were already full. The only way possible to get this was to get it off auction. I looked through the other seven books and they were all also limited edition books signed by the author. This is simply too good to be true, it's a billion times more precious than the regular copy at the bookshop

I picked out the red roses and placed them inside the jug on my reading table. They were simply too beautiful for me to let it just wither away. I detached the booked from the frame they were turned into and arranged them in the mini shelf in my room until I saw a paper slip out of the blue wrapping paper

-Happy Birthday Amelia
Love Andrew

"I see you finally got my birthday gift to you" I heard a voice and it seemed to come from my window

Almost like cold water was pored onto me I became alert instantly. how did he get in? How long had he been sitting in the window frame? And why is he here so late at night? He could have texted me or kept the gift and left. So many questions flooded to which I needed prompt answers to because... umm what the heck??

Love y'all 💓💓
