:!:!: Corey's eyes flashed yellow.
There was something off here. :!:!:
"You okay?" I said suspciously.
His eyes stayed on Damon's. He didn't say a word. Instead he had his head slightly bent, hands at his sides and stood motionless behind the couch.
Damon stood on the other side of the couch, near the TV which was blaring and throwing different colors onto the wall.
The awkward silence lasted a minute or so until he saw Corey's face scrunch up and his body tense.
Damon instinctively started towards him, but suddenly he was even farther away now. Near the window. He gave him a quizzical look.
Damon looked him up and down and his eyes finally fell on his hand. He saw something, yellow? cream? maybe a mix? slowly making it's way out of the tips of Corey's fingers. He watched in helpless horror as it continued to Corey's thumb, middle finger, ring finger and pinky. Then to his next hand.
Corey
Corey could feel the pain at the tips of his fingers. He wanted to come to Damon's for comfort. He came looking for someone who knew about what happened that day. When he got there it was just too painful. Literally.
His throat felt scratchy. As if someone took steel nails and made vertical lines inside his throat.
When his eyes first laid on Damon when he answered the door, Corey immeadiately felt like a monster. Why had he come here? To put his best friends life at risk? He should have stayed in his room and endured the emotional and physical.
But it was too late, Corey knew that when he heard Damon say "You okay?" He wanted to break down and confess but his body wouldn't let him.
In an instant he was beind the couch. And that was when the real pain started to kick in. Already familar with the pain he could feel the nails poke the tips of his fingers.
He could feel his face change and he hunched over.
Damon took a step closer and when Corey saw his he instantly felt terrified for his friend. Before he knew it he was standing near the window. Damon gave him a look, but Corey just stood there knowing he would see sooner or later.
There's no hiding this.
But Corey hoped he had enough self-control to not kill Damon.
He just watched as Damon's eyes widened and he put two-and-two together. Corey grinded his teeth. He shut shut his eyes and flared his nostrils. He would've made a fist, but the nails would have went right through his hand.
Suddenly the whole room became clearer. He could see every detail, every color was brighter. He took a quick look around the room. Wow, is this what every other human is missing out on with their weak, round eyes.
Corey knew what his eyes must look like. Yellow and cat-like, exactly the beast he saw earlier.
By now his nails had fully grown and it spread to his toes. He swung his head up in agony. The nails were pushing out of his old sneakers, he was scared to look down.
Eventually everything grew in. The brown-green fur, the nails, everything. Even though it seemed like hours, it only happened within a minute. Damon still stood in the same place, mouth agape.
He tried to make the most apologetic face he could but it probably looked like a glare.
"Corey?" Damon asked warily.
'Yes?' Corey responded, Damon's eyes bulged. Corey looked around, what? All he said was yes.
"How'd you do that?!" he screamed. "You talked in my head!"
'What?'
"There it is again!"
"Sorry" Corey muttered out loud.
Damon took a step closer to him. "Don't." Corey almost yelled. "Don't come near me just yet. I'm not sure if I can control myself." Corey whispered.
Damon looked at him, not in pity but in pure empathy. With that he walked to the other side of the room and sat down on the hard wood ground. Corey copied him, but on the other wall. They sat there looking at one another until Damon finally said something.
"If you can change back and forth then it's fine. You can just keep Corey around during school and such." Damon made it sound so easy, but Corey knew better.
"No Damon. What if I change in school and put everyone in danger. I have to leave." He stated, Damon contemplated and finally said,
"You're controlling yourself right now. You haven't killed me, and that must be good for someone who just turned into a mon-- uhh...creature."
Corey couldn't help but smile at Damon's last correction. Damon's eyes widened and look away. Corey remembered his teeth and shut his mouth. "Sorry" he murmured.
"It's alright" Damon said simply, "I just have to get use to it."
Corey and Damon say there for a few hours. And extremely surprisingly once Corey looked down a couple hours later he saw his skin, finger nails, and feet. He gingerly touched his face as if it were a venomos snake, which at sometime it was minus the snake. He glanced at Damon and he smiled knowingly. Damon must have seen the transformation and ignored it.
Corey decided to go to the couch to watch TV and in an instant he was there. He whipped around and looked at Damon. His mouth was agape.
"Dude you're powers work as a human too! This is totally going to be useful!" He cried with glee.
Damon, me turning into this is not good. Remember that.
Damon smiled ruefully, "Sorry"
"Now let's get down to business." Corey said while rubbing the palm of his hands together. He suddenly had a confidence he hadn't had before. Damon gave him a questioning look.
"I know you think about that day in the woods. You haven't said anyting but I could see it in your and Johnny's eyes." Corey winced a little when he said Johnny's name but he had to continue. "The one You, me and Johnny cannot remember."
Sorry this took so long, but I finally got inspiration!! YAY!
