If only he knew that both of them had laid their cards on the table already.

But now,

Instead of leaving like you initially intended to do you found yourself staring out of one of the house's many windows watching the large flecks of white fall from the sky and collect amongst the ground creating a large blanket.

It was snowing harder than before.

"Looks like you'll be stuck here for a bit."

Turning your head to the side your eyes met amber ones, the tall form of Dio had trailed down the hall some more stopping just by where you stood. His own gaze trailed past the glass towards the landscape outside before moving back to where you stood leaning against the window.

"Guess I will be."

Releasing a hum at what you'd responded with he briefly peered down towards the watch he wore, "In that case would you like to join me to the library? I was thinking about grabbing a few books to read in the sunroom."

"Isn't it cold in there?" Quirking up a brown after asking that you watched the edges of his lips curl up faintly.

"Well, it won't be if I'm in there with you." There was a slyness to his words and you couldn't help but find yourself rolling your eyes at him, a smile had curled across your own expression in response before you took up his offer without much insistence.

There was really no excuse for you to decline and what harm would come of it.

Picking out a book that seemed to tickle your fancy you clutched it in both arms trailing behind the lean blond, occasionally he'd peer back towards where you walked as if to make sure you had been following behind.

Swinging open the door to the sunroom he motioned for you to step in, instantly being hit with the room's chilly air.

"Are you sure you wanted to read in this room?" Asking that and turning to face the blond you watched him close the door letting out a low hum.

"I'm sure. This room gets the most natural light out of the others." Explaining that he trailed towards one of the windows and pulled away its curtains. Beneath it sat a plush looking seat that of which the blond settled into quite quickly.

Letting out a breath you trailed towards one of the cushioned chairs settling yourself into it, albeit shaking somewhat from the low temperature the room had.

Trying to keep your composer and read at least one chapter of the book you'd picked out you could hear a huff comparable to that of a dry laugh.

"You look like a shaking chihuahua." Pointing that out Dio's lips curled up into an amused smile, his eyes flickered from his book towards where you sat watching the way your hair would move ever so often from a shiver and the way your hands scuttled about the books cover trying to grip with between your cold fingers.

"Yeah, well I don't know if you've noticed or not but this room has the most windows meaning it is more susceptible to the weather outside." Keeping your hand between the pages of your book to remember where you last left off the blond merely let out a slight laugh in response.

"I noticed," Merely keeping that plain smile he also kept his hand within the confines of his book, eyes flickering with something you couldn't quite read.

"But if you're that cold." Shifting in place he patted the cushioned window sill beside him, an unspoken suggestion.

Seeing you eye the empty spot he hummed lightly, "Unless you want to stay over there of course. I don't mind either way."

Knowing that you could steal some sort of warmth from the blond you begrudgingly rose from your spot trailing over. He'd gone back to reading his book from the look of it so you felt more at ease occupying the spot beside him, practically sitting on the very edge.

"I don't bite," Pointing that out his amber hues trailed to the side seeing you half-hovering half-sitting along the cushion. Seeing that his words got no proper reaction from you the man figured he might as well take more rash action opting to reach out and bring you over himself.

His arm had wound itself across your midsection pulling you over till you were practically settled across his lap. "I don't bite hard is what I meant." Having leaned down slightly to speak directly over where your ear resided a satisfied smirk stretched out across his lips upon hearing your breathing still.

"You don't have to be so reserved you know." Murmuring that out he couldn't help but faintly nuzzle into your hair, having you this close was nearly enough to cause him to break the mask he'd so carefully forged over the past 7 years.

"I- I thought we were going to read." Hearing the stutter at the beginning of your sentence the blond merely let out a hum settling his face so that his chin was resting along your shoulder, both hands returned to their place holding the book all the while you remained tucked up against him.

"We are. You just said you were cold didn't you?" Musing that out he relished in the way your face became a bright pinkey hue and the way you'd begun nibbling on the inside of your cheek.

"I did. ."

"Then problem solved." Taking in a breath he released it into one long sigh, eyes trailed across the side of your face once more before a sense of satisfaction filled him upon watching you reopen your own book.

Although your eyes were trained on the words printed within the confines of the book you'd picked out, your mind couldn't help but continue to remind you of your current predicament. That and every nerve in your body practically buzzed from the contact.

Reading-or more like blankly staring at the pages for a few minutes you could feel the blond shift raising the sleeve of his shirt to view the gold watch wrapped around his wrist. A sort of reluctant look briefly flashed across his expression before his attention trailed towards where you were held.

"Well my dear, it's been an interesting reading break but I fear I must cut it short." There was a false properness to his words but you didn't quite catch it properly more or less focusing on the fact he'd referred to you as 'my dear'.

Sliding off the seat and slipping his arm away from being curled around you his hand paused having taken a lock of your hair. Without much thought the man had leaned down slightly pressing his lips against the shiny strands before they slid off settling back in place, a hum left the blond.

"Don't stay in here too long. I'm not going to be here to keep you warm." His lips once again quirked up into a sly smile.

God, since when, was Dio so smooth?
