"I run a service with a buddy of mine. We're an investigation squad that investigates things that you want investigated." Explained a young gentleman wearing an unzipped black hoodie, a white shirt, a black tie, a pair of the cheapest suit trousers you can find at a charity clothes shop, and a pair of black and red Jordan 1's. His hair was short, dark-brown, and was combed upward.
"That was a very redundant sentence." replied the middle-aged man in a velvet, deep blue suit. His eyes had black bags beneath them, and his forehead was in a constant state of wrinkling. "What's your company called then?" he questioned, tired and slightly irritated.
"Take this card. All the information you'll need about us is there. When you call, say George gave you the contact info. That's me." He responded with a cheeky smile.
"Two Men: The Investigating Squad That Consists of Two Men. What kind of a name is that!? Just call yourselves Private Investigators!" he said, shaking his head. "Biggie Dickwad!? Are you taking the piss!?"
"Mr., uh..."
"McGillis. Frank McGillis!"
"Right, Frank, listen. Me and my partner, Biggie, get the job done and we always leave our clients satisfied. We investigate because it's the only damn thing we're good at. Now when I came up to you in this coffee shop a few minutes ago and started this conversation, I could see it in your face! You need something investigated. You're tired and something is stressing you out. I could've spoken to that beautiful senorita over there, but I didn't because her life is clearly going well," he said shamelessly, pointing at a beautiful woman sitting by herself two tables away. Her eyes were hazel, her nose pointy, and her hair was long and luscious. She was wearing deep red lipstick to compliment her red blouse. "Yep, I've been looking and pointing for too long. Anyway, you've got the problem and I just handed you the solution. Give us a call."
"Alright, alright! Now piss off. I need to think." Replied Frank, scratching his forehead.
"Bear in mind, we are a very confidential firm but one of our clients doesn't mind us bragging about solving his case. You might know this client."
"What – are they someone famous or something?"
"Thomas Holland. Is that someone famous?"
"No way! Spider-Man?"
"Well, he goes by many names now doesn't he. But let's forget about that, you've got some thinking to be thinking about. See you later, hopefully!" said George as he walked towards the exit of the coffee shop.
"Ugh, another redundant sentence. Bye." replied Frank as he pulled out his phone from his pocket. He opened a new tab and started to relentlessly search for information regarding Two Men: The Investigating Squad That Consists of Two Men.
As George walked to the exit a thought suddenly sprung to him, and he jumped as if he was struck by a bolt of lightning. He smoothly swerved towards the barista behind the till.
"Hello there madam--" he said to the barista as he peeked at her name tag. "Madam... Karen. Can I have a mocha please?"
"Sure, sir. What's your name?" replied the barista.
"George."
"Greggory, sure. I'll give you a call when we're done." The barista said as she moved to the preparation station.
"Greggory, sure. Whatever." Muttered George.
George looked around the fairly busy café, eventually meeting eyes with the woman in the red blouse. They locked eyes for three seconds, which was three seconds too many for George. For George, it was as if everything but the two of them was frozen and they eyes were stuck in an eternal gaze. A punishment for a complement. His eyes stared into the abyss and the abyss stared back.
