    Chapter 8 - See You When You Get Back

    "Er Shigure-san? Um... I know it's terrible of me to ask so much of you, but... You see, my grandfather contacted me and told me the family was going to Hawaii. So would it be alright if I stayed here for New Years?" Tohru asks.
    "Well of course, but..."

    That night we were discussing the plans for the banquet.
    "I won't go home!" Yuki said together.
    "I haven't gone home in four months, you'll think I'll do it just for New Year's." Kyo explains
    "If I show up to the banquet now then what's the point of me leaving." Yuki says
    "At least put in an appearance so you don't upset-"
    "I won't go home!" they repeat.
    "This'll be trouble. What about you Ami?" Shigure asks
    "You know me, I never go anywhere on New Year's." I reply, giving him a small smile.
    "Right, silly of me to ask."
    "What's wrong? I've been hearing arguing voices..." Tohru says, joining us at the table.
    Shugure dramatically starts crying "Listen to this Tohru-kun! The boys are refusing to go to the main estate for the New Year's!" he complains
    "Don't weddle like a toddler, it's disgusting." Kyo tells him
    "Does that mean you're going, Ami?" Tohru questions, turning to look at me.
    "No, I got permission from the head of the family to stay home." I told her.
    "You aren't going home? But Momiji said it was a big event for the Sohmas."
    "That's right! The biggest event of big events. The whole clan gathers to celebrate. And the most important part is the exclusive zodiac banquet. Let me tell you Yuki's dance three years ago was something beautiful." Shigure tells her 
    "Wow! I wished I'd seen it." She smiles
    Yuki tosses three pieces of food at Shigure, hitting him in the face. "That's enough, out of you."
    "Got it."
    "But how wonderful. The banquet sounds just like the folktale."
    "It's nothing to do with me." Kyo says.
    "Huh?"
    "Cats don't get to go." he tells Tohru.
    "Oh no! Why not?" She wonders.
    "It's a long standing tradition that the cat isn't allowed. But I guess that part matches the folktale too." Shigure explains
    "How awful.."
    "You don't have to look so sad about it. The banquet isn't the reason I'm refusing to go home."
    "It's because Kagura would half-kill him in her excitement." Shigure says, spilling the information
    "Shut up!" Kyo yells at him
    "That aside, we would have to stay until the third. You and Ami would be all alone here the whole time." Shigure mentions.
    "Thank you very much for thinking about me. But it's such a big holiday, you should go and have fun." She smiles.
    "Besides, the two of us can manage a few days alone together." I say putting my arm around Torhu.
    "It'll be the first visit to your parents in a while, won't it? I'm sure they're looking forward to it."
    "Trust us to take good care of the house while you're away." I say
