backstory:
gwen was born to sophia williams (werewolf) and ames wattenburg (human), both of which were sixteen at the time. williams' family had been hunted for most of her life and when she gave birth to gwen, she moved their family from their home in beacon hills, california to a small, remote town in washington in an attempt to keep her daughter safe.

the family lived without issue until gwen was six, which was when a group of hunters found their remote home in the woods. williams was killed in an attempt to divert the group of hunters from her husband and child.

overwhelmed by his grief, wattenburg declared himself too unstable to raise a child and sent gwen to a girls' foster home in forks, washington where she lives with paige sanders, the foster mother of the home.
