Timekeeper

prologue:

A distant crashing noise fills the air. I jump up to my aching feet, and suddenly I know I'm not alone. Fear tightens in my chest, and I grab the only thing that matters and swing him on my back. This baby, wrapped up in an earthy-brown blanket and sitting on a backpack attached to my thobbing back, is the key to the future, the past, and the present. I will tell you the story of how I got this baby, but be warned. After learning about this, the Searchers might come after you too.
