A Normal Life

(15 Years Later)

"Are you sure you don't wanna take up my offer", Elena asked over the phone

"Elena, I've told you before, I got work to do at home, if I find a free area, I'll let you know", Ella stated, walking around the kitchen, talking on the phone while cooking

"I know, I know", Elena said

"Look, I might have some free time in a few days, as long as everything goes good", Ella explained, "I'm not promising anything yet, but I might be able to help you out with what you're working on",

"Alright, but anyway, how's the 'normal life' going for you and Nate", Elena asked

"Eh... it's alright, it's a lot nicer than being shot at 24/7, but we agreed, our treasure hunting, thieving selves are now behind us", Ella stated

"Yet, the last time you said that you were off on another adventure", Elena said making Ella laugh

"True, but this time, we're not", Ella said

"Anything about Nate's Malaysia job", Elena asked

"You know the drill, no permits, no going", Ella said

"Never stopped you guys before", Elena stated with a laugh

"I know, if we do get permits, you'll be the first to know", Ella added

"Alright, I gotta get back to work, talk to you soon", Elena said

"Talk to you soon", Ella said as she hung up the phone, as Ella finished up in the kitchen, she then began hearing noises from the attic; Ella couldn't help but laugh as she made her way upstairs, and silently entering the attic, there, she saw Nate was playing around with a toy gun, Ella's presence, unknown to him; Ella quietly, made her way behind a shelf and grabbed a spare toy gun that was lying around

"gotcha", Nate said, only to be surprised when a toy bullet flew passed his face, turning around, he saw Ella with a toy gun, pointed directly at him

"This the end of the line, Mr. Drake, the treasure is mine", Ella stated with a smile, mimicking a villain's accent

"Sorry, but I'm leaving here with the treasure in hand", Nate said, twirling the toy gun in his hand, a small smile on his face

"But you won't get past me, alive", Ella said, her accent still there as she shot at Nate, who ducked into cover, Ella going into cover as well; both Nate and Ella were laughing as the two shot at each other, until, one of Nate's bullets his Ella; Ella stopped, falling down to the floor, her tongue flopping out of her mouth, signaling that she was dead; later breaking character as she laughed and got up

"Looks like I got the treasure after all", Nate stated as he kissed Ella

"Come on, dinner's done", Ella said

"Alright, I'm starving", Nate said, the two leaving the attic and walking towards the living room and sat down on the couch to eat

"So... how was your day", Nate asked

"Finished up with work, Elena's asking me to work with her, the usual", Ella stated, "how was your day",

"It was fine, typical day in paradise, I, ah... I got to pull a bunch of garbage out of a river", Nate said

"At least you got to go for a swim", Ella said, "anything exciting",

"Brilliant stuff, early twenty-first century truck...apparently the natives called it a "semi", Nate stated in a teasing tone,

"Jameson asked you about the Malaysia job again", Ella asked

"He always asks me about the Malaysia job", Nate muttered

"I think you should take it; I can see about getting permits", Ella stated

"You know what, I don't want it, we don't have permits, and we agreed, our treasure hunting, thieving lives are now behind us", Nate explained, "besides, every adventure we've been on, you've been by my side, and I'm not taking one without you",

"Aww, but even with permits, it's not risky, and I can always come with you, who knows, Jameson might let me join you in this one", Ella stated

"No way", Nate said

"What about Sully", Ella asked, "we haven't seen him in a long while",

"El, please drop it", Nate asked

"Fine, but to let you know, Sully is being called, I miss him", Ella said making Nate laugh

"Alright, but I'm gonna go do the dishes", Nate said

"Nope, you did them last night, my turn", Ella stated

"No, you cooked, I clean, it's fine, at least... let me try to earn it or something, play you for it", Nate said

"Play for it", Ella asked

"Yeah, your little T.V. game thing, I can beat your high score", Nate said

"T.V. game thing, you won't be able to beat the high score", Ella stated with a small smile

"I bet you're scared now", Nate teased

"You don't even know what it's called", Ella said with a laugh

"I don't need to know what it's called; I've seen you play; it's jumping and running, I have a natural talent for that, and you know it", Nate stated

"Oh really", Ella said with a smile

"So, what do you say, chicken, is it a bet", Nate asked, making chicken noises soon after

"Alright, you idiot", Ella said, slapping Nate on the back of his head and starting up the game console, Nate began playing Crash Bandicoot, with Ella teaching him how to play, and in the end, he didn't beat the high score.

"What, is that it", Nate asked, confused

"You did ask for it", Ella said, "you can give it another shot, there are other things to bet with",

"Really, you're gonna start the smack talk now", Nate said with a small smile

"Yep, there is also an easy mode I can switch it to", Ella teased

"Just keep talking", Nate warned

"What are you going to do", Ella asked in a teasing tone

"This", Nate said, pinning Ella down to the couch and began tickling her, not long after, both stopped, staring at each other

"Hey... are you happy", Ella asked

"Yeah, of course, you", Nate asked

"Umm...", Ella teased with a small smile

"Umm... really", Nate said, before laughing, and the two kissing each other

(The Next Day)

Ella was cleaning up hers and Nate's bedroom after... yesterday's events, only to be interrupted by the front door opening; curious, Ella walked over, down the stairs, only to be greeted by Nate, who was home very early from work

"You're home early", Ella said

"Yeah, about that", Nate began with a smile

"Hey, little sister", a familiar voice said, making Ella turn around in shock

"Sam", Ella asked in shock

"In the flesh", Sam said

"He's alive, but something happened", Nate said

"What happened", Ella asked

"I owe a shit ton of money to a man named Hector Alcazar, which is why I need you guy's help", Sam explained, "Avery's treasure will cover it, but I need you two to help me get it, are you in",

"El, please", Nate pleaded

"Well, good think I haven't called Sully yet", Ella said making both Nate and Sam smile, the three treasure hunting thieves were back.
