High School DxD: Queen (Rewrite)

Episode 1: Cats & Devil's

I feel like I haven't eaten the whole year since I've been on the street. It's not like I'm asking for a five star meal, can't you help me just this once!? I mentally yell at the starlit sky, knowing well that if I shouted that out in my cat form, someone would've video taped me and put me on the news. And if there's one thing I hate, it's attention.

Sniff, sniff. Mmm, what's that smell? Sniff, sniff, sort of... smells like fish. My mouth starts to water. The scent pulls my gaze to the large building ominously sitting under the moonlight. Is this a school? Looks pretty scary. Maybe I should come back another time.

To stop me, my stomach growls like a monster hiding under a child's bed. Ugh... Fine. I'll go into the big scary school!

I glance both ways and cross the road. For a moment I stare at the towering school gate. It's spikey appearance giving me the vibes of something... occulty. If that's even a word. Which it probably isn't.

Luckily, I've been feeling on the thin side as of late. So, squeezing through these bars shouldn't be a problem. Yoink, I slip through the bars like I was made of butter. See! That was to easy! Phase one of the: Infiltrate the not at all spooky school because I'm hungry, is complete! Now. It seems like the smell is coming from this building over here.

I snake around the sides and come across a big window opened wide. The fish definitely has to be in here. With the strength I have left in my little feline legs, I pounce inside. Safely landing myself on a cool granite countertop.

And there it was, a fresh cut piece of salmon, cooked and laying on a bed of rice. Infiltration complete! Time to chow down!

"A cat?" In the corner of my eye I spot a long red-headed girl gawking at me. "You have ten tails!?" Looks like that's my cue to leave! I turn and attempt to dart on the window, "nope! I'm not letting you leave."

I struggle in her grip. "Put me down!" I demand. "HELP! SOMEONE!! I'M BEING MANHANDLED!"

"Calm down, I'm not going to hurt you!" I don't listen. I just keep squirming in her hands until she sets me on the floor. The tiles down here were just as cool as the counter. "See, I'm not going to hurt you," her blue-green eyes lay on mine. "You're a Nekomata, right?" she smiles.

"You... You know what I am?" this is the first time finding someone who knows what I am.

She nods, "I have a Nekomata of my own that's a part of my peerage. Her name is, Koneko."

My tails begin to sway side to side. "Really!? Can I meet her?"

She puts a finger up, "I'd love to. But first, why don't you tell me who you are? And why you're here?"

Rias POV

She shifts, revealing herself to be a gorgeous girl with one side of her hair the color of pure snow and the other as dark as the midnight sky. Both complimenting her stunning blue and yellow eyes. I can't help but stare in awe. "Do you have any clothes I can wear?" she asks, hiding behind her sweet rosy cheeks.

"I do," I say trying to steel my nerves. "I'll go get you some. And you can have that fish if you want," my eyes wander her bare slender form before walking off. I don't care if I use God's name in vain, but dear God she is breathtaking.

After she dresses and eats, we sit down in the main room of the old school building. She gazes around, having me secretly hope that she's admiring all the art work and old pieces we have lying around. "So, if you don't mind. Why don't you tell me why you're here? It's not every night I catch a cat jumping through my kitchen window."

She nervously scratches the back of her head. "Yeah... Sorry about that. I haven't eaten in a while. And I don't have any money to pay for food, so."

"You steal. You don't have a family that can cook for you? Why aren't you in Kyoto with Magari and the other Nekomata?"

The air in the room turns dark, "you see, a year ago my parents were killed."

"By who?"

She shrugs, "my Mom and Dad told me that there were bad people that want to use me for my power. So, we ran. But, while we were trying to escape, both of my parents were killed."

Damn... I can't imagine going through something like that. She kinda reminds me of the way Koneko use to look when Sirzech gave her to me. I get up from my side and sit down next to her. "I'm sorry that you had to go through that," I wrap my arms around her as tears drip down her cheeks.

"I still don't know who's after me. I never had a moment to find out. I've been to worried about being able to eat and having some place to sleep at night."

"Then why don't we change that?" I leave my fingers around her arm and smile. "I Rias Gremory of House Gremory. Offer you a place to stay for as long as you see fit."

"Really!? Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!" she pauses for a moment, "wait! I haven't even told you my name!" she jumps up from the sofa and bows. "My name is, Y/n L/n. It's a pleasure to meet you Rias."

Akeno's POV

As I walk through the Clubroom doors, I notice Rias sitting at her desk, skimming through a load of paperwork. "Good morning, Rias. What's with all the paperwork?"

She lifts her head up and grins, "it's just a bunch of documents my brother wants my opinion on. Says it has something to do with the Teen Devil's in the Underworld." She sets a paper to the side, "what about you? You have a good morning?"

"Mhm. I just came to get you before classes start."

Before she could answer, a black and white puffy cat with ten tails trots in. "Rias," it calls out. "Is it okay if I use your shampoo and conditioner?"

I immediately snatch the cat off the floor, "oh my gosh, Rias! She's so cute!"

"AAAAHHH! LET ME GO!" she squirms in my arms. "RIAS! HELP!!"

"Akeno, put Y/n down. She doesn't like to manhandled."

"Aw... But, I'm not manhandling her. I'm showing her my love and affection." Rias gives me the stink eye, "okay, okay. I'll put her down." I put her back down on the floor. She shifts into her human form with her big ears poking out. "Are you from Kyoto? Like many other Yokai."

"Yeah. Rias took me in last night."

"Oh really? Why'd you leave?"

"Akeno, we still have classes. I'm ready to go if you are," Rias interrupts.

"I am..." I turn to Y/n and blow her kiss. "I guess I'll bud into you personal life later, sweetie."

"And as I promised last night, you'll get meet Koneko. The Nekomata I have in my peerage," Rias adds. "We'll be back later. Don't do anything crazy while we're gone."
