A Path Paved In Red

Chapter 1

It was 6:30 am when Ebony woke to her alarm clock and slid out of bed and into the bathroom to get ready for the day. She washed her face, brushed her teeth, and pulled her thick ginger hair into a loose bun, she walked out of her bathroom dressed and ready for the day.

Turning on the television and walking into her apartment's kitchen, Ebony began a small breakfast of reheated pancakes from the dinner she went to the night before and a glass of orange juice out of her retro style, blue,metal fridge. She made a quick lunch of a tuna sandwich, string cheese, an apple, and a mini bar of white chocolate. All of her lunch went into the small, paper bag style, fabric lunch bag while she ate and scrolled through Square posts to see what her community was talking about today.

Ebony chuckled at the board posts, a smile gracing her lips as she read, deciding to write her own she began typing

Emerald.Oak: Lore stream tonight at 6pm Can't wait to see you all there! Be ready, tears may be spilled.

After she made the post Ebony stood, placed her plate in the empty sink and grabbed her messenger bag containing her school books and lunch among other things. Ebony was out the door after she switched the television off and grabbed her keys, locking the door behind her. 

Down in the parking lot she headed for the sidewalk, opting to walk across campus instead of driving to absorb the last fleeting rays of sun. It was about ten minutes later that Ebony arrived at the brick building going inside and walking down the hall. Opening the door and entering the room she sat and pulled out her phone once again opening Square and looking at the replies to her board post

Replying to E.Oak  UserGracie: I've got the tissues, who's in charge of snacks?

Replying to E.Oak & UserGracie oofboy02: I've got the popcorn!

Replying to E.Oak  user123: I've scheduled a group therapy appointment for Saturday, anyone else?

Shaking her head Ebony pulled out her notebook and a blue pencil, a small smile showing on her face as she tucked her phone back into her bag. 

The lecture lasted for an hour and a half, Ebony packed up her things and looked at her notifications, a direct message from Bear on Square

FrostBear: 'Hey Oak, are you ready for the stream tonight?' 

Emerald.Oak: 'Yep! I put everything in place last night'

FrostBear: 'Great, I'll talk to you later then?'

Emeral.Oak: 'Mhm bye!'

The school day had passed by fast, making Ebony glad she didn't have work that day so she could get back and set up her stream deck on Square. Once back in her apartment Ebony made a beeline for her desk where her equipment sat, turning on her dual monitors, a gift from her parents last Christmas, and opened Square as well as the game she was going to play with Bear that night, Minecraft.

Once her things were set up she looked at the glowing white clock hanging on her wall, 5:46pm. 'It's almost time' Opening discord and opening the VC She waited six minutes for Bear to show up.

"Hey Oak, I'm here. Starting my stream now"

"Me too"

Both deafened and started their streams. 

"Hello Everyone! Welcome, welcome, today we have something super exciting happening! We're doing Lore with Bear!" Oak and Bear had become close friends after competing with each other in a build race a few months back and decided to make a lore server. "Let’s get started shall we"

"What do you all think, who should we drop on today?" Dylan asked his viewers, seeing a multitude of responses after he looked for anyone he knew that was live. Not finding anyone he went looking for a small streamer to drop, that's when he saw her,

"How about Emerald.Oak?" He saw a multitude of different responses that mostly consisted of yes'. "Alright have fun!" Dylan sent off the viewer drop and ended the stream. 

He went to check out 'Emerald.Oak' opening her stream to hear the voice running it. 'Her voice' listening left him awestruck. 'It's beautiful' Dylan watched entranced as she roleplayed, her voice tugging on his heartstrings as the man that seemed to be her best friend betrayed her, the raw emotion stacked behind her words brought him to tears. 

When she cut off the lore and began speaking to the chat it made his heart melt, her voice so kind and elegant greeted her chat,

"Hey everyone! Hope you liked that.. a drop? Oh okay thanks, it has come to my attention that I missed a drop from 'Golden_Royal' so if you're still there thank you! I hope you had a good stream!"

"I did thank you" he sent causing the chat to go crazy 

"That's good to hear! Welp that'll have to be the last of the stream today, but I'll drop you all on Bear, he's gonna play some survival. Go follow him and have fun!" 

And with that she was gone, Dylan decided to message her. 

Golden_Royal: I hope you had a good stream! I had a lot of fun watching it.

Emerald.Oak: I did, thank you for the drop! 

Golden_Royal: You are very welcome
Would you like to stream together tomorrow? I need one more person for a full squad in Valorant

Emerald.Oak: I'd love to!

Golden_Royal: Great I start at 7:30pm

Emerald.Oak: I'll be there.

Both sent each other a friend request. Ebony and Dylan went to bed smiling looking forward to the day ahead.
