Strength

Kai felt his anger, his pure, unbridled anger bubbling up inside of him. He sighed, "Fine then, we'll meet back here at school, tonight. "

Anna smiled at him maniacally, "Why tonight? You scared or something?"

Kai looked at her from the corner of his eye, " Far from it actually, I'd just rather not have everyone in our school see our fight."

Anna laughed "You know the app conceals us right?"

"If I win, I don't wanna give my position away to the other 10 players." Kai said.

Anna frowned "oh fine, you were always a strategic person at heart. Guess I can't fault you for trying to play the game."

"Yeah, you can't... oh and calling me that name, that was low, even for you A." Kai said, not even sparing a glance for her.

Kai was sat next to his bed, his cards in his hand, he was deep in thought, what was he gonna do? He had to fight her, but he didn't know anything about her,  atleast not in the context of this game. He had to make some kind of plan.

Though the only thing that was going through his head was how screwed up the universe is. It wasn't enough that he was roped into this game, no his ex who hated his guts had to be in it too. She already had a superiority complex, now she also presumably has tons of experience over him, and what seems to be a dangerous bloodlust. He started getting angry, his back was against the wall. Tonight was the night he died, and Jane would also be tormented just because of him.

The more he thought about his situation the angrier he got. He wasn't going to be able to win this, no matter how hard he tried, how hard he planned she would most definitely win this, she had a sigil, he didn't even know what his was. He shuffled his cards faster, messier, with less control. He couldn't protect his friend, no matter how hard he tried, it wouldn't be enough. His anger kept rising, the universe hates him. How can he fight someone like her? He used to love her, he can't just forget that. That name she called him, she knew what it meant to him. After all that time they spent together that's what she took out of it? He couldn't believe her, she threatened him, threatened his friend. His insides felt like they were on fire. He could feel his veins pumping blood to every bit of himself. In a fit of pure blinding rage he stood up and threw his cards to the wall. The impact was so hard that even though they were but a deck of cards they hit the wall with a thunderous CLAP. As they fell to the ground Kai stopped, recovering from his anger. He looked at his reflection in the mirror in his room, as to wonder what he had become, what this game had made him. As he looked he saw himself looking back, it was a peculiar sight.

Kai stood on the schools field, in the dead of night. It was quiet, and the icy air bit into his flesh, he was wearing a jacket but it barely helped. On his face were a pair of black aviator sunglasses. He was overcome with anticipation. Tonight was going to be something both him and Anna would remember,  he'd make sure of it.

"Didn't think you'd show up" a voice said, like needles to his eardrums it infuriated him.

"I'm no coward A, unlike you." He said.

"Coward? Are you forgetting who challenged who?" She scoffed

Kai, having finally turned around glared at Anna, "oh I remember, but I also remember the times before this. The times you've been so eager to forget."
