Muichiro and Yuichiro were raised in a happy family, doting parents that always came back home with a grin. With arms outstretched, they welcomed the twins into their hug. Muichiro was always a mommy's boy, running into his mother's arms and kissing her cheeks. He'd then exclaim how much he missed her, and proceed to explain how his day was in exaggerated arm gestures.

But one day, when the twins were left with their uncle for a night's out, their parents had gotten into a car crash that killed the two on impact. With their parents gone, they moved in to live with their uncle.

In no way was it bad, their uncle was a lively man, always full of energy like their father. He always brought them little presents to mimic their parents-as they would always get their children something nice. He'd bring them on trips outdoors for a breath of fresh air or even on a road trip to another part of town; Muichiro always liked feeling the cold breeze through the windows.

This was all so they could keep the sadness of their loss away from their heads.

Muichiro woke up with a sharp gasp, unable to make sense of his surrounding for a second, until his vision had focused. He was in his sky-blue bedroom, and under his covers. "Ugh geez..." He forced himself to sit up, wiping away the sweat that accumulated on his neck with disgust.

Lately, he couldn't help but have reoccurring nightmares of what their parents might have looked like during their accident.

His father's head would be covered with blood, leaning against the steering wheel with soulless eyes. His mother would be sprawled against the cold, hard concrete road with shattered glass around her, no sign of life in her eyes either. "Muichiro... Yuichiro..." Was what came out of her mouth in a whisper before her eyes lost its light.

He shivered at the memory of the fresh dream in his mind, there was no doubt that he wasn't going back to sleep after that.

It was 2 in the morning, he noted as he glanced at the clock.

Muichiro sighed a soft breath to calm himself and threw off his bed cover to the side. Yuichiro was sleeping in the other bed that was set on the other side of the room, mumbling incomprehensible words. A slight creaking could be heard as he slipped off his bead, quietly tiptoeing across the room.

Something he has learned to do, was sneak down the stairs where his uncle's cafe was located at, and steal a book from the shelf. His uncle sometimes ordered new books to be placed there, and when he had arrived home from school yesterday, he had taken notice of the taped up brown cardboard box.

He had read every single book that was there, and it was exciting knowing that there would be new ones. As he made his way past his bedroom door and down the spiral stairs, he realized that the dim light that illuminated in the store was still on. He peeked over the corner of the wall; no one was there.

It was a good chance to snatch a book.

The boy held firmly onto the railing as he jumped down the last step. He couldn't help but wonder if his uncle had left the light on so he'd be able to see in the middle of the night.

As he felt around in the bookshelf, his eyes could barely make out the new selections of books at the bottom of the shelf. So that's where he stored them. He thought, his fingers gently pulling them out of the shelf at the tip.

He was careful as to not make a noise, if his twin woke up and found him sneaking books back into his room, he'd probably get a scolding.

Yuichiro was always the serious type.

He had gained a fear of cars ever since he learned that their parents died in a car accident. He was always against road trips and always advised Muichiro to stick by him when they walked to school.
