I smiled at the message and added this person as my friend. I cant tell if that was a compliment but I'm gonna take it as one.

"What?" Roman asked me squeezing my hand.

"I downloaded that app and someone messaged me." I showed him my phone and he smirked at the text a bit.

"Was that a compliment?" I ask rubbing my thumb on his hand.

"I think so." He turned back to the road and continued to drive.

We made it back home and Roman let go of my hand as I ran upstairs to his room. I stopped running for a second and walked back downstairs.

"Wash your hands. I don't like the blood."

"I will." He lets out a slight smile as I watched him walk to the bathroom. Wish that lasted longer.

He's been smiling a lot more lately. That's a lie. I liked it that way anyways. At least he was smiling a bit. He never used to smile at anyone.

I ran back upstairs and slammed myself on his bed and stared at the message that person sent me. I hate this app already. I cant even tell their gender yet.

I clicked the keyboard and typed back a hi. Was that even a good enough response to this persons message. They fucking complimented me. I got rid of the message and called Roman.

"ROMAN!" Not even a second later I could hear footsteps coming up the stairs. He peaked through the door and saw that I was okay and let out a sigh.

"Don't scream like that. I thought you were dying." He said panting.

"My bad. How do you start a conversation."

He looked at me furrowing his brows.

"Why are you asking me?" He tilted his head leaning on the door frame.

"Because your part of the mafia which must mean your confident in talking which also means you can start conversations. correct?"

"Uhh I think?" He rubbed his hand across his forehead and sat down on his bed.

"You can say hi?" He spoke suggesting the idea

"I feel like that's too dry."

"Dont overthink it." He grabbed my phone and messaged hi.

"Dude." I said crossing my arms dramatically.

"Your messaging someone. Plus they messaged you first. It's a take it or leave it opportunity."

"Right okay." I patted his head 3 times before lying down.

it was getting dark outside and the room stared to get a brown tint because of the light seeping through the brown curtains. Roman layer down next to me and I put my phone down.

"Wanna play a game?" I asked

"No." He said running his fingers through his hair.

"Truth or dare."

"I said no."

"I said yes."

"Fine truth" he sighed defeatedly and looked at me.

"How come you had to go to private school? Why couldn't you stay with us?"

He stared at me for a moment and took a deep breath.

"Because my parents thought it was too dangerous for me to be with you guys in that school. They said our family privacy would get exposed and it wasn't safe. I know they weren't doing it for my safety though. Only for their safety. They only fucking care about themselves. At one point I had to live with my grandparents because my parents kicked me out for being out too late."

He took a deep breath before speaking again.

"I never really liked my parents. I'm glad they are gone for the weekend. And I'm glad your here too. Even though I act like I don't care I kinda need company. The mafia isn't enough."

I sat up slowly before speaking

"You want a hug?" I asked

"What?"

"A hug."

He just furrowed his brows at me and sat up.

"Like a bro hug?" He asked rubbing his forehead.

"Ugh just hold your arms out" I spoke grabbing his arms and pulling them out.

I sat closer to him and wrapped my arms his neck. He tensed up but slowly calmed down and wrapped his arms around my back.

"I'm sorry." I whispered.

"I like hugs." He whispered back.

We sat there like that for a few minutes and I waited for him to pull away from the hug.

"Truth or dare?" He said pulling away from the hug.

"Truth. Just to make it even."

He nodded and spoke again. "You remember earlier when you asked me if you could stay longer? Why did you ask?"

I stared at him for a second and remembered the messages that Cole sent. About Linda. I forgot to tell him I had to go home.

"About that I have to leave. Monday." I looked down and played with my fingers pulling at my skin.

"Don't do that. And it's fine. Leave whenever you want my goal was too stop val from making you look horrifying."

I slightly laughed at his joke before answering the question.

"Uhh I didn't like the idea of Linda. I like the fact that my dad is finding love and all but she's off."
I gulped knowing that wasn't the full reason why I wanted to stay but also why I have to leave.

I felt guilty hiding this from him as he told me the whole truth.

"That's all?" He spoke grabbing my shoulder.

"If I tell you your going to over react."

"I won't. Promise." He nodded as I nodded back.

"Linda has been raising her voice at Sydney. That's why I have to get home asap." I took a breath in and Roman stood up.

"Are you going to be okay if I let you go home? And does your dad know? What the fuck." He muttered the last bit while tucking a piece of hair behind my ear.

"He doesn't know. Cole messaged me this morning while you were in that room. Shes got all eyes on him and her."

"If she lays a finger on any of you I'm going to kill her."

I stood up and grabbed his shoulders.

"It's gonna be fine."
