I exit my house and walk into the pouring rain, beginning to walk down the sidewalk in search for the little boy in the yellow raincoat. I had watched him leave my new neighbor's (that I haven't met yet) house with a little paper boat. I felt a horrible feeling in my gut and shunned it for a while. It grew.
My feet skip the last step and run down the street, coming onto Witcham street. I see the boy leaning and looking into a storm drain. A gasp leaves my lips and I run towards him, noticing he's talking to someone. My feet tread slowly down to him and I try to be quiet. My eyes peer into the drain and see a circus clown with white face paint and cherry red lines that go from the corners of his mouth up to his eyes. An eerie smile graced its face. I grab Georgie (so said the clown) by the waist and yank him away.
"Georgie no!" I say. He peers back at me and I hear a growl emit from the clown.
"Stupid little bitch" It grumbles. I widen my eyes and crouch down.
"Get on my back" I say to Georgie, who happily complied.
I take off running, careful not to slip and fall and possibly hurt Georgie.
"Haven't your parents ever told you not to talk to strangers? Especially ones dressed like clowns!" I shout. I'm being pretty hypocritical.
"You're a stranger" he states
"Fair point kid but I'm not an adult"
"I-I'm sorry..."
"It's okay buddy" I say as we make it back infront of his house. I walk up the steps and knock heavily on the door. A woman with light brown hair and beautiful brown eyes looks at me and then to her son.
"Oh Georgie!" She says as I let him off of my back.
"Where were you?"
"I was following the boat..." he mumbles.
"I'm sorry Miss, uh, I saw him exit the house and something didn't feel right uhm, I ended up finding him- (I paused, creating a lie) about to fall into one of the storm drains on Witcham street..." I explain.
"Oh thank you so much, I'm Sharon Denbrough, come in please" she says kindly. I smile and walk in, dripping on the floor.
"I will stay over here, I don't want to track water throughout your house Ma'am"
"Oh nonsense! Come take a seat!" She insists.
"W-what's goi-ing o-on?" I hear, and look over towards the steps. A tall brunette boy with beautiful teal eyes comes down in his pajamas. He looks sick. He also looks quite cute- stop.
"Well Miss, wait, dear what is your name" Mrs. Denbrough asks, turning her head from the boy, to me.
"Oh- uhm it's Alayna Caddel Ma'am"
"Thank you honey, Bill this is Alayna. She kept Georgie from falling into a drain. She's also our new neighbor" She says, smiling brightly.
"W-well hi Uh-Alayna" he stutters. Speach impairment.
"Hello Bill" I smile. A shiver runs through me and I hug myself.
"Well, I'm gonna go back home, maybe I'll come by tomorrow" I say kindly.
"Oh dear! Would you mind watching Georgie tomorrow? Bill also needs watching but- well nevermind, will you?"
"Oh sure! What time would you like me over?"
"How is 12?"
"That's fine" that's early.
"Well I'll see you tomorrow, bye Georgie" I wave. He rushes over and hugs my legs, I crouch down and engulf him in a bear hug.
