A Crossing Star

Chapter 1: Memories

New day. New start. New troublesome. This is my life, and you're not so welcomed in it. My life is complex, full of mysteries here and there and an annoying cute little brother Noah with no parents, but an adult our guardian Leo.

Leo was best buddies with dad and like a big brother to me and Noah, but can be so strict sometimes and-

"Astraaaa get your ass off the bed right now! You are going to be late to your first day of school" Leo said so loudly. "Couldn't you think of another way to wake me up momma bear?" I said groaning. "Nope this the best way" he replied entering my room grinning so widely and took my sheets off of me, I glared at him while saying "You know I can kung-fu your ass right?" he chuckled "I would like to see you try!" he shouted and ran out of my room.

I shut my eyes tightly and got off of my bed, there's no way I am going to run after him now. He was right I'm going to be late, so I decided to be the adult here and get ready to school. I entered my bathroom and started brushing my teeth looking at the digital clock with boring eyes then they went wide, school starts soon. Shit. I need to move fast.

I started to wear my outfit which is only a baggy hoodie and baggy jeans and converse shoes, then I started brushing my hair putting it in a messy bun, looking at the mirror satisfied with how I look so I collected some books and shoved them into my bag running downstairs.

Leo clapped and said, "Finally and now swallow this" he grabbed a donut and shoved it into my mouth, I frowned as I start chewing on it. "where's Noah?" I asked with my mouth full. Leo looked at me grossed as I roll my eyes at him showing him I don't really care on being "so lady like".

"He's asleep, he starts school tomorrow as he is only 5th grade" Leo said. We got in the car and we started going to our way to the hell prison.

Sighing, I swallowed the last bite of donut looking out the window, blurry houses and trees. I felt Leo glancing at me but didn't say anything. My thoughts went to the memory I hate the most.

I was crying.. and staring ahead of me, not able to blink them away. My hands and whole body was shaking terribly, falling to my knees as I tried to breathe while my vision started to get very blurry. I tried to scream but nothing would come out as it was already hard to breathe I felt myself starting to gasp for air like a fish gasps for water. How ironic. Feeling my throat closing up but I stopped myself.

I took deep breathes and shook my head, I don't want to think about it right now while school is around the corner. "Astra? Hello? Earth to Astra. Astraa-" I smacked Leo's shoulder lightly " okay fine I hear you, what is it now hmm?" I looked at our surrounding and we are right in front the school.

He looked at me seriously and said very carefully, "are you sure you are okay that you can continue the whole day here alone and-"

I interrupted him again "yes yes I was thinking on how I could've be done with school if you didn't pull up the stunt of last year's"

He didn't seem to believe anything I got out of my mouth so I said, "ow look the warning bell just went off, better for me to keep moving now bye and don't forget to feed Noah!" I ran out of the car and entered the school and to my locker, this year going to be the same periods and same teachers but different students. You can say like I failed the year, last year, senior year. I couldn't graduate with my friends but there is one friend Zoe that I would like to graduate with this year, she skipped last year tests and just basically skipped all the year just for us to graduate together.

I opened my locker feeling other students gazing at me, I ignored their curious eyes and placed the books I don't need right now and grabbed the math note book, first period going to be hell.

I closed my locker and sprinted to my math's class is at, I was passing by the door when I heard Mr Adams groaning and saying something with 'thought the Sirius dropped out' or 'or not Sirius again' he said it in a low voice I couldn't really catch it, I just sat at my usual place scanning the class for any new faces I haven't seen last year and I saw some 2 or 3. 2 girlish girls chattering in high pitched voices and 1 rude looking guy he seems a bit older with a sharp jaw and a huge scowl on his face, I saw other girls eyeing him. Rolling my eyes at them and turned my head to my front.

The second bell rang, signaling for the period to start and here we go everybody.

"So all of you know this year is not for joking around, especially when you want to succeed" Mr Adams said looking at me pointedly I stared back at him expressionless and so he took his gaze away looking around the class and continuing "ah we have 3 new students here, why don't you all introduce yourself from your place please?" I scoffed so polite now huh?

I saw one of the chicks stand the blonde one and started saying, "Hi my name is Emily" she paused looking at the whole class expecting a reply I couldn't help but to shake my head and so she continued saying, "well I'm not really new here, I have went to this school when I was in middle school and I'm glad I'm back here" she said cheekily winking at the group of jocks and her gaze stopped way too longer on the mysterious guy like she can eat him at this very minute.

Emily sat down giving the brunette attention of the class as she stands up too "Hi I am Lora and not new here too, been here in middle school with Emily and I'm glad to be back" Lora finished her little introduction and sat down, she seems more smarter than Emily.

Mr Adams smiled at them and said, "We are glad to have you here too, and you young man why don't you introduce yourself too?" Mr Adams gazed at the mysterious guy. "I am Amir and I am new to here that's all you get" there was an accent in his voice. I looked at Amir I found him looking at me, I kept my gaze on him, eyes locked and I see the corner of his lips coming up, is he smirking at me? The audacity of this guy, I frowned and looked away. Mr Adams started to talk about math and my brain started to zone out while memories started swirling around.
