"Maybe you can get lost." - Harry said to him.

"Harry!"

"What's your problem man?" - Liam asked.

Harry huffed and rolled his eyes, giving us his back and walking to the edge of the sea away from us.

I need to talk to Louis alone. Why the hell did he bring that lifeguard?

I shook my head in amusement, looking again at Harry, making him turn and lock his eyes with mine.
He blushed and looked down, knowing I caught him.

"Liam, mate. Do you want to go swimming for a while?" - I asked softly.

"Sure." - He shrugged, taking his shoes and shirt off.

"I'll be there in a minute. You go ahead."

Liam frowned and I nodded, reassuring him I'd be alright.
Liam nodded back, understanding the situation and ran towards the sea, passing through Harry's side, jumping through the waves and splashing around.
I laughed because he looked like a little kid having fun on his own, and then I walked to Harry.

"If you wanted to talk, you could have just said it." - I smiled at him. - "What is it?"

"Yeah, sorry about that."

"You should control your jealousy a bit better." - I giggled.

"I'm not jealous."

"It's okay. I'm very jealous too." - I said, stepping closer to him and signaling him to sit next to me.

He sat down and doubted for a second, then he moved closer, his leg touching mine, and with slow movement he took my hand in his'.
I was surprised at the sudden touch and fixed my eyes on our now intertwined fingers.

I tried to contain my whine of excitement because I didn't want to freak him out, but in my head I was already jumping and dancing in victory.

This was a lot.

"I had a prediction a few days ago." - He interrupted my thoughts.

"Oh. Yeah?"

"About us, of course." - He said and I nodded, impulsing him to continue. - "You were mad with me."

"Why was I mad at you?" - I frowned.

Harry's eyes were also fixed on our tied hands, which were resting on his knee now.

"You got angry with me because I… I wasn't exactly giving you back the same affection that you show me, maybe?" - He said, now playing with my fingers.

"That's not true, Harry."

"I don't want you to be angry. At all." - He said shyly.

"I'm not. You think it'll come true?"

"I have a feeling, yeah."

"I'm not angry, and I don't think I'll be, if that's what you're worried about."

"But I feel like you have your expectations high for me, and I don't deserve that. And it's really hard for me, because I now understand and admit that I… I need your friendship."

I sighed when I heard that word. Again.
That was exactly what was getting me this frustrated, because we were making a lot of progress, I knew he wanted to spend time with me, I knew he liked my presence and he was getting really affectionate lately, he was showing me. We were holding hands right now for god's sake.

Why does he say that he's not giving me enough?

Why would he want to keep this as just a friendship when it's clear that our connection is stronger than that?

"Louis, please stop."

"What?"

"Thinking. Please stop thinking."

"I'm sorry."

"You don't have anything to be sorry for. It's me. It's all on me."

"Harry, if you want me just as a friend, I'm here for you. Don't doubt that."

"I need you, Louis. And it's painful to even think that you can get mad at me and walk away."

"I'll not walk away."

"But you're building this big illusion because of this weird legend and this feeling we both feel everytime we look at each other or when we share a small touch. But I don't. And I don't want you to be mad with me because of that." - He said, letting go of my hand.

"Harry…" - I said and reached for his hand again.

I took a firm grip of it and our fingers found their way to intertwine together once more.
He looked up at me with a sad smile.

"I do need you. Just not in the way you want me to."

"Hey, it's enough." - Liam said, running towards us.

"What do you want?" - Harry said sharply to him.

"I just want you to reconsider what you're saying to him because it affects him."

"Mind your own business, Liam." - He said.

"Louis is my friend. And you're literally playing with his feelings. I'm not letting that happen in front of my eyes."

"We're just talking." - I said softly.

But inside I felt my heart pounding and my eyes at the verge of watering.

"Lou, are you okay?" - Harry asked and I closed my eyes, nodding softly. - "You got mad, didn't you? Fuck! This is what I was trying to avoid."

"It's fine." - I said.

"Want to go back?" - Liam asked.

"Yeah…"

Harry tightened the grip on our hands, making me open my eyes.

"I'll see you tomorrow?" - He asked with wide concerned eyes.

"I guess."

"Can I tell you one more thing?" - He whispered and I nodded. - "Today, before you were even here, I was watching the sun in the sky and it reminded me of you, of your mind, of your eyes, of your laugh, of your way to see the world. I need that. I mean it. You lighten up my day. Every day. So, please don't be a stranger."

I felt the tears starting to run down my cheeks and Harry lifted his hand to wipe them off.

I'm stupid. I ruined everything.

"How did your prediction end?" - I asked softly, ignoring his thoughts, but feeling the comforting touch of his fingers running in my cheeks.

"Exactly like this." - He answered in a whisper, his face inches from mine and his eyes staring right into my soul.

I stood up from the sand as quickly as I could and waved awkwardly at Harry who was still sitting there looking up at me with sad eyes.
Liam walked by my side until we were far enough that Harry couldn't hear us.

"Lou, you need to keep calm. Don't pressure him, he'll come to his senses. You've heard what he said to you. I'm sure he just needs time, even if he's being an idiot about it."

"I told myself I was going to fight for him, Liam. I'm not breaking that promise, he needs me."
