The lightbulb flickers,

And goes out, dead.

Darkness coats the room,

It's unspoken, but said.

 Rattling fences,

Twisted in chains.

There's a cracking of the air,

Another soldier slain.

Underneath the desk,

Our eyes close shut.

A faraway noise,

Feel a sick twist in our gut.

The lightbulb flickers,

And then burns bright,

Like a flame of faith,

In the darkest of nights.
