Jason's POV

After Nya does all she can for Clary, my little sister sleeping away the medicine and pain as she slowly heals, my eyes stay on her face constantly, guilt racking my chest. Now the Witch sits next to me, her hands on my body, pulling out the systems of the poison, and healing any bruises and scraps around my body.

I shift in irritation, not caring about healing myself when Nick is somewhere waiting for me, but Luis and Nya insisted, claiming that I couldn't help anyone if I'm hurt.

Sometimes I wish my friends cared as little about my overall health as I did, I would probably get away with a lot more shit.

Finally after what seems like a year, Nya removes her hands from my arms and gives me a nod, the girl slumping onto the floor with a tired breath as she rests, Wolfsbane healing always a black hole for magic.

I immediately stand up, and turn towards Luis to tell him where we need to go, when I hear commotion upstairs, voices of concern and worry calling out, and I sigh in relief when I remember the howl for help I sent out before my friends got here.

Leaving Nya to rest and look over my sister, I lotion for Luis to follow me, and he does, the two of us walking up the stairs out of the basement and into the entrance hall, the usually wide space feeling cramped with the group of wolves that just arrived. I see two men on the ground, one laying down, the other leaning over the first, and there's a sick twist in my stomach when I realize the man laying on the ground in my father.

I push wolves out of the way, earning a few growls that quiet down once they realize it was me that called for help, recognizing some of my neighbors.

When I finally push towards my dad, I find him laying on the floor hallway into the kitchen, his eyes closed, chest rises slowly. When my ears focus, I hear his heart, the sound weaker than it should be.

"Wolfsbane?" I ask the man lying over my father, who I recognized as one of the Pack Doctors from the next street over, and he gives me a solemn nod.

"Someone help me get him to a car and to the Medical Center. The rest of you figure out what happened." He says and a brother and sister pair step up to help the Doc lift my dad up, and I watch with worry as they carry them away, before I stand up, turning back towards the room.

"We heard the distress call and came as fast as we could after grabbing more people. What happened, Jason?" Maya asks, one of the caregivers of the pack.

I look around at the people around me, people I've seen my whole life who I thought didn't give me a second look other than to confirm the fact that I'm a criminal. And yet here they all are, coming to help without a second thought.

Shaking away the sudden feeling of comrade, I look at the wolves that ran to our help, and decide for once to ask for something I never have before.

   Help.

"My brother has been kidnapped." I say, and I feel the intensity rise in the room, everyone here knowing Nick, having been told to look after my Omega Mate since he was just a pup. "I found out that our mother, Shannon, kidnapped Nick from another family after she suffered a miscarriage a couple days before. Just as we were putting pieces together, we heard a thud up here which must have been my dad, and Wolfsbane was thrown down and knocked me out. Besides my families scents, the only other one I recognize is a human called Nathan."

My chest aches as I think about Nick in the hands of that boy, Nya's magic helping speed up the healing process until my sense were back to normal.

And when I realized who's scent that was floating around, I knew I couldn't do this alone.

"Nicolas is my Mate. We found this out before we knew about Shannon, so we had to hide it but Nathan found out. After he failed to manipulate Nick into being with him, he disappeared and we've been waiting for him yo strike and I think he has. I'm going to Nick's birth family to ask for help, but I could use all the wolves I can get." I confess, my nerves barely holding together.

I stand with my shoulders back, not letting myself be scared, but to my relief, my neighbors are quick to rally.

"Of course we'll help, Jason. I always knew something was weird about Nick. We'll get your Mate back, Jace." Tarik tells me, one of the Warriors of our pack, and a breath that I didn't know I was holding seeps out of me as I deflate softly.

"Thank you." I tell them, and they nod to me before I tell them the plan. "Do any of you know Sara? Or maybe her kids Darren and Tessa?" I ask and a few heads turn towards me with a frown.

Maya frowns. "I used to take care of them when they were little." She tells me, and I remember that she's been working at the children's center of the pack for almost twenty years.

"That's Nicks birth family." I tell her, waiting for her to call me a liar, but instead I watch as her jaw slacks and she smiles in awe.

"Nick is their Robin?" She asks quietly, and my chest pangs as I think about how much it has to hurt them for Sara to talk about it all these years later. I frown when she laughs and shakes her head, waiting for the attack, but it doesn't come. "I should have known. He looks just like Darren when he was younger."

A pant of jealousy goes through me, part of me still holding on to the fact that I'm supposed to be his biggest brother. I ignore it though and after a moment, I don't feel it at all.

"That's where we need to go. If someone has their number, or will run ahead on foot, give them a heads up." I tell them and turn towards Luis as they agree and begin hoping and talking amongst themselves as they hurry out of our home.

The Faerie goes to walk pass me, but I step in front of him and stop him.

"I hate to ask you-" I tell him, but before I can finish he answers.

"Then don't and we'll call it a personal choice. I know I made a promise, but Nick is more important. How could she stay mad at a face like this anyway?" He asks cockily before smoking and walking past, but I don't miss the worry in his eyes.

I follow him out the door and only hope that his Eliza forgives me for what he's about to do.

What do you think is the promise that he made and what do you think it has yo do with Eliza?
