Yeah, so, I decided to make a book all about BDSM and different kinks. This is for beginners, who don't know much about the lifestyle, differences and all included kinks.

I used this word now two times in two chapter, but I thought "Why not make a chap of this?"
So here I explain what exactly a Paraphilia is, and what other meanings they have!

What is a Paraphilia ?
A paraphilia is the experience of intense sexual arousal/pleasure to atypical objects, situations, fantasies, behaviors, or individuals.
In other words: Paraphilia is kind of a frequent sexual fantasy; what makes you feel aroused. That can involve objects, certain situations or other people.
Just my ownfantasy ? Nothing else ?
No, definitely not! There are also disorders, which are linked with Paraphilias. They're called "Paraphilic Disorders".

Just so you don't get confused:
Paraphilia ≠ Kink
Paraphilias are the sexual fantasies of people. So of course paedophiles count here, since they are attracted to children. So this is a sexual fantasy for them (which is notright)
Kinks are strictly done with consent. ------
Most people with paraphilias are men, and many have more than one type of paraphilia. Some of them also have a severe personality disorder, such as a antisocial personality disorder or narcissistic personality disorder.
Some paraphilias, such as pedophilia, are against the law, if you act on it.

How do people knowI have this ?
Doctors diagnose Voyeuristic Disorder when these people feel very distressed or/and become less able to function well because of their behavior, or they have acted on their urges with a person who has not consented.
Again, Kinks/plays are done with consent. So you see here, that the Disorder does not only cause harm to yourself, but also your partner or other people.
Treatment:
Every Paraphilic Disorder has its own "treatment".
Not every Disorder can be fully healed, but most can be kept on a leash (let's call it that).
Like the Pedophilic Disorder. Most people can not be "healed" from it, since someone's sexual fantasy can not just suddenly go away.
Therapy and jail/prison are what's best, because this way they can not harm anyone.
In therapy, they can talk about this. (How it started, what they did, their own thoughts about this, and so on)
Some people with this Disorder have not acted upon their fantasy/urges and know what is right and wrong.
They want to change and start therapy/group therapy on their own will.
Or the Voyeuristic Disorder: here pornography is used as treatment. It's like a replacement for their actual fantasies.
I'm not saying their fantasy (voyeurism) is bad, it's the Disorder. Because the disorder is what causes harm, distress and other symptoms.

I won't be doing a chapter for every Paraphilia, since there are over 549 different Paraphilias. So it'll probably just be about the most common ones.
A small side note: I have a list for the upcoming kinks, so if you want me to explain one, it will take a while (unless I think that kink is easily explained)
