"Likewise," the woman said. "The landlord said some wonderful things about this neighbourhood. I'm Mary."

"I'm Donna. These are my beautiful kids, Liam and Marley," she replied, waving her hands proudly. Marley smiled at the woman fakely, not wanting to seem rude. Liam kept his head down since he was usually shy around people he didn't know.

"It's nice to meet you ma'am," Marley said sweetly. All she wanted to do was get back to her chalk drawing. And Liam looked agitated as well; this was the longest he was able to stand still for.

"And you too darling," Marley replied. "I should introduce you to the family. Paul, Camden!"

Both walked over from the truck one by one and stood by Mary. Camden quickly said hello to them but walked over to the black car. The dad hooked his arm over Mary's shoulder and smiled happily at everyone.

"This is my husband Paul," Mary said. He held out his hand for Marley's mum to shake. Marley could see her mum studying his features, surely examining his handsome features.

"Great to meet you," Paul said and nodded to the kids. "I have to go and check the house though. I'll be out in a bit to properly introduce myself."

"Okay," Mary said, and Paul walked back into the house. "We do have another son but he's probably sulking. He was against moving houses."

"Oh bless," Donna said. Mary turned to look at the black car. Marley saw Camden pull someone from the passenger seat with a rough force. He pushed the person forward and motioned towards his mum. The tension between the two was very much like older to younger brother. A lanky, slim boy with messy hair walked from the side of the car. He stopped when he reached his mother. His face hid behind his mother's arm.

"There you are. How you feeling?" Mary asked, brushing her hand through the boys head of blondish curls. He mumbled something to her, shy in front of everyone. By this time, Liam had snuck off and was picking up the scattered lacrosse balls. "He's just shy. Come on, introduce yourself to the girl."

The boy moved from behind his mum to stand in front of Marley. This was the first time she could proper see his face. He had a small nose with a rosy blush under his eyes. He had a clear face with a single freckle dotted on his cheek. The boys lips were pink like his mums. He kept his head down, even though he was much taller than people his age.

"She's nine right?" Mary asked, referring to Marley. The boy fidgeted as he worked up the courage to say something.

"Yeah, I'm guessing your boy is the same," Donna relied. They kept on talking but everything seemed to go quite when the boy stuck out his hand. Marley looked over at him sceptically.

"I'm Isaac," he said quietly. "Lahey."

"I'm Marley, Marley Dunbar," Marley said, holding out her hand. She stopped when she saw the blue chalk covering her palm and fingers. She wiped her hand down her denim shorts and took Isaac's hand. They shook hands for a few seconds, and it was like everything was coming together. Like the gods had placed a bet, and their predictions were finally coming true. Isaac looked up for the first time, showing Marley his blue eyes. His bright blue eyes.

"I'm sure the rest of the neighbourhood has kids as well," Mary said. Isaac and Marley dropped their hands, glancing at each other once more.

"Yeah, well we have the Murphy's across the street. They have a ten year old daughter," Donna said. "And we have the Whittmore's just in front of yours. They also have a son who's nine."

"That's great, such a community," Mary said. "Well, we'd better help get everything into the house. So many things to unpack."

Marley's mum laughed obnoxiously pricily. "Oh okay, well we'll see you another day. It was lovely to meet you."

"You too," Mary said, waving as Marley's mum tries to take her hand, but she retracted quickly. "Bye now."

"Bye!" She waved. As soon as her back was turned, she stopped smiling. "Well that family couldn't get any happier. And they have a father too."

"Dad says that you hate women who have husbands because who's can't keep one yourself," Marley said sweetly, moving to pick up her box of chalk. Liam picked up his last ball and put it away.

"Excuse me?" Marley's mum asked, shocked after hearing what Marley had said. "What did you just say to me?"

"He also calls you a gold digger," Liam said, his language slightly slurred from his age. Marley moved and took his hand, leading him into the house.

"He what!" Donna asked.

"Marley, what's a gold digger?" Liam asked, looking up to his sister at they stepped into the house. He squeezed her hand gently, unable to wrap all of his fingers around her palm.

"It's what mum is," Marley said, her tongue poking through her lost tooth gap. "I'll tell you when your older."

If you read this without reading the first book, this is your last warning. There will be spoilers and it just won't be the same if you read this book first.

Welcome readers from my first book! I did this purely out of irrational thinking. I was bored and I'm lonely so I'm making a prequel. This the first chapter I hope you liked it. I just wanted to create the moment where are two protagonists meet. The other chapters will be longer I swear.

I won't have a set time to when I'll update this book but I have the summer holidays now so I should have time. This is just to keep my writing ability afloat whilst I plan my next big book.

Thank you for reading, please vote.
