By the time the sports festival arrives, I'm so nervous. I'm contemplating every possible thing they could have us do and every possible outcome. I'm so deep in thought I don't notice Todoroki walk up to me.
"Amaya, we should team-up. It is our best chance of winning and as heroes teamwork is necessary," he says which startles me and brings me out of my thought
"Sure, why not?" I reply.
We hear an announcement over the intercom telling us to go to the tunnel and wait to be called out to the field.
"Welcome to this year's sports festival!" Present Mic says over the speaker, in his box with Mr. Aizawa. "They've fought villains firsthand already, give them a big cheer, from the Hero Course, it's Class 1A!"
We go out onto the field and everyone cheers for us. Present Mic then continues to call out the other classes. Once all the classes are on the field Midnight walks onto the stage.
"Now that all the classes are here it's time for the student pledge! With the highest score from the entrance exam, the student representative is, from Class 1A, Katsuki Bakugou!" Midnight says as Bakugou comes up to the stage.
"I pledge that I'm gonna win," Bakugou says, earning him a whole bunch of boos and angry shouts.
"Now for the first event!" Midnight says coming back onto the stage. "Which is," a huge board behind her randomly picks the event. "an obstacle course. The rules are simple, first one to the finish line wins. You may do whatever you want as long as you stay on the path. Now line up," Midnight says pointing to the area we're supposed to start at. Once we're lined up she blows the whistle and yells "GO!"
The students push and shove each other trying to get out of the tunnel. Todoroki freezes the ground and I fly up above the crowd of kids. Not long after Bakagou using his explosions to become airborne and get out of the tunnel. Up ahead I see a huge, blocky silhouette and slowly come to a stop. The rest of the students now catch up to me stopping at the giant robots.
"Those are the zero point robots from the entrance exam!" I hear a student say from down below.
Todoroki blasts the robots with ice imbolizing them. I fly over them with Bakugou hot on my tail. There are more robots in front of me so I blast them with a ball of lightning. Quickly flying to the next obstacle which is a huge trench with rope paths going across. I don't bother slowing down and just fly ahead still in the first place. I slow down making sure to stay with Todoroki. The next obstacle is called "the Fall." It consists of huge block towers surrounded by a huge canyon and is connected to one another by slim pieces of rope. We pass the obstacle quickly but are met with the next obstacle. It's a minefield covered with small explosives. My wings are getting tired and I don't want to use up all their energy in the first event, so I land next to Todoroki. We step carefully, but quickly, head-to-head with Bakugou who is yelling a lot and calling us "Chicken Wings" and "IcyHot." We're almost to the end when a huge explosion goes off and a green blob is soaring through the air. Deku lands right in front of us taking the lead. Now we're all head-to-head trying to get first. Deku makes it into the arena first, so he got first place. Todoroki is second, I'm third, and Bakugou is fourth. Bakugou starts yelling like a madman when he gets fourth. Beaten by the people he hates most. Or as he calls us, Nerd, Chiken Wings, and IcyHot.
After the first event Midnight announces the next competition which is the cavalry battle. We are granted a five minute water break before the second event. After the water break the rules are announced.
"The rules are that everyone must be in teams of two to four. Every team will have a rider with a headband that has the total number of points each team is worth," Midnight says, explaining the rules to us. "42nd place will be worth five and the point values will go up by five from there. The top four teams with the most points will move on to the one-on-one fights. All headbands taken from other teams must be worn around the neck. Now for each teams total worth."
We then get 15 minutes to pick our teams. Todoroki and I automatically team up. We then get Momo and Iida to be on our team as well.
