The Fade is the world of demons and spirits! Again, Bioware came up with this!

Alchemy, the art of potion making. Potions, tonics, and magical grenades are all branches of Alchemy. Some potions include the standard Healing Potion, the Jar of Bees Grenade, and Lyrium Potions. Lyrium potions are used to restore the strength of spellcasters after a lot of use of their magic. Since magic requires energy, the spellcasters eventually get tired after so much use of magic. They require the elfroot plant. Healing Potions do exactly what they are called. They can heal the sick and injured, however if infused with magic, Healing Potions can be more powerful than ones without magical infusement, and most are made with elfroot, but spindleweed also has healing properties. Grenades are magical catastrophes contained in vials. For example, the Jar of Bees Grenade is a magical liquid made with the blood lotus plant that when used, it explodes into a swarm of magical bees that with a singular sting can paralyze or even kill a person.

Please comment if anything is confusing that way, I can fix the problem!

I apologize of the size difference for the pictures! Those symbols are also on Max's spell books!

Edit: I forgot to mention that the name Lavellen is an elven name from Dragon Age Inquisition, but Max is human, not an elf! Just wanted to make that clear. The reason it wasn't in my story description is because I ran out of space to put it in the description.

I also forgot to mention that mages in the Dragon Age series channel energy from the Fade (the world of Spirits and Demons) through a special connection, to which they use the energy to generate their magic, but if that connection is removed or severed, their magic will disappear, along with most of their emotions and dreams. They are then called Tranquil. But in this book I'm not using that method! Mages, witches, and wizards generate their magic on their own, so they don't have a connection to the Fade. They still can have their magic removed but by a different way. I most likely will still call them Tranquil though.

Edit: I don't know why I didn't put this in here sooner, but witches and wizards DO exist in here, not just mages!

Witches tend to deal with simple magic like talking to spirits, with a few elemental skills, and they use magic without a wand or staff. They use the most dark magic than other spellcasters, but there are known good witches and evil wizards and mages (ahem... Clara).

Wizards are slightly more powerful than witches, as they can wield most elements, but they can't use the mage specializations. However, their weakness is that they have to use a wand to channel their magic, as a staff is made for mages, as they need more magical energy to be used. They need wands because if they try wandless magic, their magic can get out of control very quickly.

Mages are the most powerful spellcasters, as they can use all elements and they are able to use the specializations. Some mages are more powerful than others, as some can only master one main element and one specialization. But more skillful and powerful mages can control all elements and specializations all at once. They can use magic with a staff or without one.
