Chapter Four: Hunts and Secrets

"Seraphina!"

Binaba ko ang mga ini-inspeksyong kutsilyo nang marinig ang boses ni Sana. The second daughter of Head Alpha graced the Warehouse with her usual grin. Is there no day where my name won't be shouted in the halls?

"Yes, Sana? It's too early in the day to call me."

Sana chuckled and showed me a... rabbit? Kunot-noo ko itong tiningnan. Behind her, the large doors opened again and Roella walked inside with confidence and pride.

"Ano 'yan? May hunt ako, Sana. Hindi ako pwedeng magluto." nagtataka kong tugon.

Sana's grin widened. "So you weren't the one who gave this courtship gift?"

"Who..."

"Roella?" tinaas niya pa ang kilay.

I watched as the red-head stalked towards me, face in ice-cold fury. Abel looks constipated while Lovella was chuckling under her breath. The pack wolves around us, who heard the shameful exchange, looked at me with suspicion in their eyes.

Nalaglag ang panga ko sa akusasyon ni Sana. "You know we're technically cousins, right? I wasn't flirting with Roella!"

Sana laughed and I instantly knew she was being ridiculous again. Head Alpha and my father are half-brothers, making me their half-cousin. Isa nga siguro 'yon sa dahilan kung bakit ako ang naging Delta, maliban sa ako ang pinili ni Remus nang magpresent siya as an alpha at dahil sa sariling status ko rin sa pack.

"Napakahirap paniwalaan, Sera." komento ni Lovella. "You flirt at anything or anyone pretty that moves."

Hindi ako makapaniwala sa sinabi ni Lovella. Anong anything na sinasabi niya? I don't remember flirting with pretty objects. Complimenting them, sure. Tsaka hindi din naman ako nakikipaglandian sa lahat?

Sinamaan ko ng tingin si Lovella dahil sa sinabi niya. Iniwas niya lang ang tingin at umaktong sumisipol.

"Kung hindi ko sila kadugo, oo." I turned to face the chuckling Sana and unimpressed Roella. "I didn't play pranks on you. I'm nineteen already."

"Who else would be confident enough to leave a dead rabbit on Roella's door?"

"Aba malay ko, pinsan." I intentionally punctuated the term. "Pero hindi nga ako 'yon. I promise over my affection for my beautiful cousin, Roella!"

"Sabihan mo silang kausapin muna ako, Sera. I don't want to receive things without knowing their faces." Roella's eyes fell on the table filled with weapons. Isang tango ang ibinigay niya bago magpaalam, "Good luck on your hunting. Ang sabi ni Papa ay sasama si Wulfred bukas dahil si Gastino ang dadalhin niya papunta sa Velkaun pack."

Pinanood naming lumabas si Roella. Almost everyone remembered how to use their lungs when the door slammed close. Sana remained there, eyes filled with mirth as she held a rabbit up.

Head Alpha's children are all problems to me. Hindi ko lubos maisip kung kaya ko ba sila kapag ako na ang naging Head Beta.

"What should I do with this rabbit now?" Sana asked, holding the rabbit up.

"Roella didn't accept it?"
