Chapter Four, Breaking the Curse

The day had arrived and everything had gone as planned. Marcel's vampires had managed to get the blood (both the Bennett and Doppelgänger blood), and the Ascendent without the Scooby gang, or the rest of the Mikaelsons, or even her family finding out. She was surprised at how sneaky they were. Surprised but ever so glad. When they had captured Agnes they had found out she was the one who had the Sun stone, which killed two birds with one stone. Now, they just had to wait for the New Moon which was in two days. Kol was ready to finally feel complete after a thousand years of only being half of himself, and it would be all down to his amazing Evie Parker. He didn't know how he got so lucky but he was incredibly thankful nonetheless.

***

That night as the sun was setting Evie threw her hair up into a messy bun, changed into a grey crop T-shirt, black jeans, purple Smokey-eye eyeshadow to match her purple nails and dark purple almost black lipstick, and black heeled boots. Whereas, Kol was dressed in a white tracksuit and black trainers for comfort as he's going to be sore all over once the curse is broken. The difference with Kol's curse and Klaus's curse is that although some Doppelgänger blood had to be mixed in with the heart of the witch and the heart of the vampire and the Sun stone; he did not need to kill her, he just had to drink the potion that was the end result of all the things mixed together.

Evie entered the old Mikaelson compound, her heels clicking on the cobblestone floor of the courtyard as she looked over at Marcel and his vampires setting everything up with a critical eye. If one thing was out of place it could spell serious trouble for all involved, but all seemed to be going perfectly. Agnes and Dashiel -the vampire- were behind magical rings of fire with Agnes's hands bound in iron chains so she couldn't do magic and escape. Looking up at the moon Evie saw it was time.
"It's time." Evie called across the courtyard, Kol and Davina getting to their places while Marcel and the other vampires went up onto the balcony out of the way but close at hand if trouble came. Luckily for them Evie and Davina (at Evie's instructions) had spelled the compound so no one but those she granted access to could get within a hundred miles of it.

"Are you ready Davina?" Evie asked kindly. Davina, bless her look scared but she had a determined look on her face.
"Yes. I know it'll hurt a bit but I'll be fine." Davina said firmly. Evie nodded her head, placing her hand on Davina's arm; her hand immediately started to glow red as she siphoned the foreign magic. Picking the Sun stone up out of the bronze bowl Evie started chanting in Latin to send the foreign magic into the stone that started to crumble bit by bit; turning into fine dust as it fell through her fingers and into the bowl. Once the stone was gone Evie stopped siphoning from Davina, both of them stumbling a little making Kol and Marcel edge towards them but stopped when they held up their hands and righted themselves.
"Kol, Agnes now." Evie instructed, lowering the fire as Kol approached.

Kol caught her as she tried to run and brought her over to the altar they had created where Evie was chanting, as Kol ripped out Agnes's heart squeezing it into pulp over the dust in the bowl. Evie added some other ingredients as she chanted including adding the Doppelgänger blood (which she had checked to make sure no one had swapped it on her), then nodded to Kol to get the vampire who she had slowly desiccated so he couldn't escape. Once again, Kol dragged the vampire over the altar and ripped his heart out, squeezing it over the now bubbling crimson liquid. He stood back and allowed Evie to continue chanting as the moonlight hit the potion which was the last and final ingredient; and then it was done.
"It's ready, baby." Evie smiled encouragingly at her lover, boyfriend and best friend all rolled into one. Grinning widely Kol kissed his love passionately before he took a deep breath and picked up the bowl and drained it in one.

He barely had time to place the bowl back on the altar before he collapsed to the floor in agony. It felt like his skin was burning as the blood churned and boiled within him. If he didn't trust his girlfriend implicitly he would have thought something went wrong as he squirmed and groaned on the hard floor for what felt like hours - which in fact was only ten minutes- until he felt something click and unlock within him and suddenly he felt connected to the earth once again. A feeling he hasn't felt in over a thousand years, not since he was human in fact.
"Kol?" Evie asked cautiously, as she kneeled down beside him.
"It worked!" Kol said gleefully, twisting his hand he set fire to the remains of Agnes and to the vampire, Dashiel.

"Thank you, my love." He said, pulling her on to his lap for a very heated and passionate kiss. Just vaguely Kol could hear Marcel asking Davina if she was alright and if it had worked, Davina muttering a positive answer to both of those questions, before Kol turned his full attention on to his mate. His mate was amazing and truly one of a kind and now thanks to her; he was unstoppable just like Klaus was. And if anyone dared harm his Princess their heads would roll and he'd paint the street with their blood. Right now though, Kol took Evie home showing her just how thankful he was that he was finally whole again for the first time in over a thousand years. She was the first and only one to spot that something was amiss, not even his siblings had. They had just assumed he was throwing a tantrum. He didn't need them and their Forever and Always he had his own Forever and Always with an amazing witch named Evangeline Parker and he couldn't be happier.
