the waves of sadness wash over you.
crash into you, yet still you pick your
head up. eyes admiring. eyes enduring
eyes adoring. not for the tide. the wave
the undertow of grief. but for the sun
which licks. embraces. caresses your
body the way you were always supposed
to be touched. the way your mother
birthed you to be held. in your ear you hear,
such is strength, as melancholy takes you again.
