Resting on his toilet seat I folded my hands in my lap as he grabbed his first aid kit. The sound of the cabinet door closing was beard before he kneeled down in front of me. Chase brought a small wiped to my cheek as he slowly moved it across the red swollen skin. "You know I hated it when you get hurt Autumn." He softly commented as he dried off the skin and put a clear bandaid in the open cut. "I know but she started it." I huffed. His laughed echoed around the room causing a small smile to grace across my face.

"They didn't hurt you badly did they?" Shaking my head I stood up with him as he put away the aid. "Okay. I'll always be here if there's anything you need." He pulled me into a hug as I was instantly surrounded by warmth and comfort. The safetly that Chase gave me was soon gone as he smiled at me as I continued towards the attic. If only there was more people in this pack like Chase and not total utter assholes.

Closing the door firmly I dragged my feet towards my bed. Exhaustion finally cought to me as I laid down covering my eyes with my arm. It seems no matter how hard I try and contain my tears they fight for freedom. Tears flowed there way down my face as small sobs excaped my lips. My whole life has gone to shit and just keeps getting deeper. I miss my mom and dad. Playing and hanging out with Chase and Carter without having a care. Now Carter hates my guts and Chases has to keep it a secret that he still care about me. Memories blurred as silence lured me deeper into sleep. Until I was swarmed into dark.

The darkness cleared as I sat into a familiar green forest. Small memories of times spent with loved ones flashed behind trees before disappearing. "Autumn my darling." A voice similar to a smoothing lullaby greeted. I smiled as my wolf came from the trees red fur glistening in the light. "Alice." I hugged her as she stepped in front of me. "Are you alright?" She asked as she curled up around my naked body. Nodding I smiled as I looked up at the trees.

Alice purred as a calm atmosphere waved over. "Alice you only call me on special occasions or check ups. Is anything wrong?" I asked as I ran my hands through her fur. "Tonight's your seventeenth birthday." She noted. "Seventeenth." I repeated the number carefully. "Tonight is when we find our mate Autumn." She finished as my eyes widened. My mate! "He's going to reject me easily Alice! You're going to be hurt if he does. I can't let that happen." I turned resting my head to the side looking at her.

"It's alright darling. Everything will work out." She smoothed. Nodding I breathed in calming myself down. "Just remember I'm always here to protect you." Her voice called as the numbness and warmth disappeared and I was greeted by the ugly brown ceiling. Signing I stretched and pulled my hair into a ponytail. Walking to the small window the moon was slowly rising as it peaked out from the top of the trees. It's almost midnight.

A knock sounded from my door loudly. Taking a breath I opened the door to see the beta's wife holding a basket of clothes. "The alpha wanted you to wash these clothes in the river. The wash machine is broken." She quickly handed me them before shuffling off to the ceremony. I guess I'll be missing Chase's birthday ceremony. Grabbing my shoes I slipped them on and grabbed the basket of clothes. The river was the last place I wanted to go. I never was taught to swim leaving me defenceless against deep water.

Exiting the house people rushed towards the porch to cheer and greet the two new alpha's. Eh. It wasn't before long until the path turned quiet as I came a few feet off the water's edge. Kneeling down I began scrubbing the dirty clothes and rinsing them in. As the pile of clothes slowly decreased the world surrounding me became quite noises. It wasn't until a the loud crunch of a heel alerted me of newcomers. Quickly turning before a heel came hurling down. Her heel smashed into the rocks sending pebbles flying.

"Hey rags I see you have to washed they scrum off clothes." Lilian's friends laughed as I glared at her. "Shouldn't you be at the ceremony slut." I scowled at her as she glared at my insult. "We were just going but a little business needs to be taken care of." She stomped closer to me as her followers stalked behind her.

I quickly scuried up from the ground and tried moving between them. Just as I was about to go around her she grabbed my shirt yanking me back down. "Let go of me!" I yelled as they dragged me by my hair. "I think it's time for you to take a dip." Lilian smiled as panic set through. "Stop! I can't swim! Stop!" Screams erupted from my throat as the water edge grow closer. Lilian and her group lifted me high by my hair over the river. The current rapidly pushing against the waved. "You're pathetic." Lilian chuckled as they let go.

Water surrounded me as the temperature bit at my skin. Gasping my arms and legs struggled to keep me up. The current finally succeeded as my head dropped beneath the water. The thumping of my heart started to beat slowly as water filled my lungs. Nothing but the cold burning at my skin before darkness engulfed my mind.
