Strings ; [Soobin x Reader]

Payback

Both of them widen their eyes, but don't say anything.

"We didn't talk for the rest of the day, and then once we got to the party we just went our separate ways. That's when I met Taehyung."

"Taehyung as in Taehyung from BTS?" Yeonjun asks.

"So that's why his name sounded so familiar!" I nearly yell. I can't believe I didn't realize it sooner.

"Did he say anything weird to you?" Roseanne asks.

"Well I was really drunk at the time so I don't remember the full conversation but we did leave together to talk," I answer.

"You went to hang out with him alone?" Yeonjun interjects.

I sink into my chair. I guess I kinda did do that, didn't I?

Even though some parts of last night are hazy in my mind, I vividly remember Soobin being surrounded by plenty of girls and that made my blood boil regardless of us being in a fight. I'm sure I only did that to get back at him. 

"Yeah but it was only because Soobin was hanging out with a bunch of girls."

Riiiiiiing. Riiiiiiing. Riiiiiiing.

I glance at my phone on the table and see Soobin's name pop up.

"Answer it!" Roseanne hands my phone to me.

Answer it! rings inside my head, but I can't bring myself to actually hit the green button.

Why... Why can't I?

After the dial tone runs out everyone is still staring at the phone, then slowly turn to me.

"I just need more time to sort out my feelings," I finally say.

"That makes sense. You can take as much time as you need," Yeonjun reassures me.

I decide I need some fresh air, so I head out to the high-end bookstore in Roseanne's neighborhood.

There are beautiful fresh cut flowers at the entrance, and an immediate overwhelming smell of old books upon entering. It wasn't a bad smell though, it reminded me of my library near my old house. I walk though the different isles sampling each book that catches my eye until someone taps my shoulder.

"YN, is that you?"

He's tall, not extremely tall though. Probably around 5'9, sandy blonde hair that sweeps just above his eyes, and a slim but toned body. I recognize him immediately- my old friend from school, Joshua.

"Joshu, hi!" I smile. What a nice surprise after everything that has happened.

"It's been so long, you look great," he says hugging me.

I hug him back- maybe a bit longer than I should've but I can't help it. I miss being in someone's arms, and the thought of Soobin rushes back into my mind and my eyes follow suit by watering, ready to overflow at any moment.

"Hey are you okay?" he pulls back.

"Huh? Oh yeah I'm fine, see?" I say faking the most convincing smile I can.

"That doesn't seem fine to me," he says placing his hand on my shoulder.

Riiiiiing. Riiiiiiing. Riiiiing.

"Oh sorry," he reaches into his pocket, "I have to take this but text me okay?" he walks out of the bookstore.

I sigh and decide to go back to Roseanne's. It's probably time to decide what I'm going to do about Soobin. As I'm walking back to her house I swear I see Taehyung get into a car, but maybe I've really lost it.

SOOBIN POV:

"Ugh she didn't answer!" I say throwing my phone on my bed.

"Uhhh hey guys look at this article," Beomgyu places his phone in front of Heuningkai and I.

The title read:

TXT'S LEADER SOOBIN'S GF CHEATS ON HIM WITH MYSTERY BOOKSTORE HEARTTHROB

I don't want to believe it but there it is, a huge photo of Y/N in some guys arms.

"How did they even know he was dating anyone? It was never released to the public," Hueningkai retorts.

Heuningkai and Beomgyu's conversation becomes drained out by my anger. First she was getting close with Taehyung and now this— and to think I called her wanting to talk things out.

Pathetic.

"Soobin!" they both yell in unison.

"Hmm? Oh sorry guys," I say scratching my hair.

"We asked what you're going to do. You know this will cause major issues with the company," Beomgyu says putting his hand on my shoulder.

I haven't even thought of that, shit.

I get up, "I need to talk to Yeonjun."
