echo soon became absolutely fascinated with morros life. he told his story with intense emotion, the rusty nindroid could feel every feeling and sensation vividly. the wind, sadness, anger. everything he described felt so real to the other.
life was hard for the ghost in the beginning years of his life. homeless, and with nobody to depend on, he would steal food from a monastery's trashcan, sometimes even sneaking inside of the monastery, for that was the closest area he could get food. but one fateful day, the owner caught him.
"I always had close encounters with wu" the ravenette stated, sighing into his hand, "but this was the start of my life anew. where I had a home. he didnt shoo me off anymore. he said he 'saw greatness' in me"
echo nodded quietly, eyes filled with curiosity and wonder to show that he was listening. morro continued on, "he trained me to become a ninja. THE green ninja. I was destined to be, or so I thought.."
he mumbled the last part bitterly, before coughing and speaking up again; "the most powerful ninja ever. I trained hard everyday, but.." morro trailed off, lips drifting into a frown.
"..but?" echo zane ushered on, morro kept quiet, furrowing his brows at the supposed unpleasant feeling he was experiencing in that moment.
"you do not have to say if you wish not to" he added, quietly fiddling with his hands. the ravenette nodded slowly, "its just that.. he always expected so much of me, I can still taste his disappointment to this day. sometimes I still feel like a disappointment."
echo faltered for a moment, before pushing out a genuine response, "he shouldn't have been. I do not believe you are a disappointment!"
a ghost of a smile graced morros lips as he let out a cold chuckle, "well, it seems like your the only one who thinks so right now."
time passed by without a care, echo eagerly listening and taking in morros riveting backstory. sometimes, the ghost would use his wind powers to create atmosphere, blowing wind in through the windows or even making tiny wind figures.
it was a little hard to distinguish the diverse shapes the wind would take, but the rusty nindroid felt entertained anyways, awed by his new friends power.
gizmo would peep in sometimes, curiously inspecting the cause of the wind, body clicking and purring. "this is gizmo, he's my friend. he likes to clean!" echo explained, pointing at gizmo.
the ravenette reached out to touch the tiny robot curiously, only for gizmo to whirl away quickly, returning to a corner of the room to sweep or put things in place.
"ah, I'm sorry. he's a little shy" the golden boy shrugged apologetically. "dont sweat it" morro smirked, retracting his hand and placing it on his cheek. a silence fell between the two for a moment, before the wind elemental spoke up again.
"why is this lighthouse in the middle of the sea?" echo zane shifted before replying, "it was made as a prison, to hold my crea-- dad, captive"
"your dad?" the ghost echoed in question, tapping his cheek with one finger. "where is he now? did he escape or...?"
"he escaped! he didn't have the time to retrieve me, so I'm waiting for him to come back for me! he said he would" morros expression seem to change, a stark difference from the nindroids innocent, fond smile. his lips formed into a small frown, eyebrows burrowing in thought. his eyes flashed pity. "oh."
another silence fell over the two, this time it seemed more awkward and stiff. it made echo feel uncomfortable, so he concentrated on the waves and sounds of the night. it felt weird to think about how long he had been in this lighthouse. he lost track of it even, only remembering the day his creator left him, promising to come back for him.
he had believed this promise in full, but now he began to doubt due to morros reaction. would his creator ever return for him? did he forget? such thoughts hurt to process.
"..can you control the wind again?" the robot asked faintly, turning to face the floating boy. morro blinked, lifting his hand and creating a tiny ball of wind. the bandages wrapped around his wrist rised and flapped around with the element daintily.
"you really seem to like my tricks, huh?" he grinned, shooting the ball of wind towards a random stack of papers on a box.
gizmo jeered, wheeling to clean up the new mess, echo could hear it grumble angrily and giggled at it.
"yes, it looks fun!" morro created another ball, absentmindedly tossing it back and forth as if it was a physical ball. "you should show me around this place, like aaaa... little house tour!"
"oh. there is not much, mostly stairs" the taller said, eyes flicking back and forth in sync with the balled-up wind. "buuut theres an outside at least... right?" morro countered, dissipating the wind with a small 'poof!' "I mean, more then just water."
"oh! yes, a beach. I've never really been fully out there, but i have seen a little through the windows!"
"lets go explore! you and me, together!" green cracked his knuckles and moved to float beside echo, "it'll be fun"
with a tiny smile, echo zane nodded and readied himself
"lighthouse beach, here we come!"
