Hazel's POV:
I got out of my comfortable bed early in the morning to make breakfast for my parents. After I brushed my short, boy like haircut, I walked towards the kitchen, walking down two stories of stairs.
I guess I have rich parents, I mean, they are the owners of the biggest company, Chansley Wide World Toys. They make toys for kids and comfortable blankets.
Anyways, I examined the kitchen, grabbing out the things I needed. I decided to make eggs, bacon, pancakes, and freshly brewed coffee, pretty cliche.
Right as I placed the plates on the table, I heard both my parents taking. I slightly smiled and said, "Good morning, mom, dad." I smiled gently at them. "Good morning, sweetheart." I heard my dad say as I walked over there to grab something out of the fridge. "I made breakfast. I know you two won't be home tonight, so I thought I'd make a little something nice for breakfast." I explained, making my way across the kitchen and towards the table to set the syrup.
Right as my parents left the huge house, I sighed. I made up my mind to finally asked my best friend out. I was a nervous wreck. Hands slightly shaking, mind running around like crazy. It was stressful.
Reader's POV:
Hazel grabbed her phone and dialed a special number. She put it on speaker and after a few rings, it picked up. She took a quiet deep breath as she said way too nervously, "Eli, how are you?" "I'm doing good buttercup. What are you up too?" Eli said in her gentle voice. A blush scattered across Hazels face at the sound of the nickname. "U-um, nothing much dandelion. Just finished cleaning up breakfast. Bit um, I have a question." She started. "Will you please let me take you out in a date?" Nothing is heard for a minute straight. Hazels heart racing faster than it should be. "You know I can't, Hazel. I'm not into girls." Eli stated, sounding sad about it. Hazel tried not to cry, tearing up with an aching heart. "I-I'm sorry. I-I know you don't. I sh-shouldn't be, um, forcing I-it like this. I'll hang up-p." She wiped her face and goes to hang up. "No! Please don't, Hazel. Let's hang out today. I'll treat you to that candy place." Eli said rushed. Hazel mumbled, "it's better if we don't. I'm sorry." She hung up, putting her phone away, staying on the floor.
Hazels POV:
I stayed like this on the floor for a while before I heard the front door open, causing me to jump. I looked up, standing up. "Mom? Dad? You two home already?" I said nervously. I walked to the front door and saw a girl about my age sitting in the floor shaking. "Hey, what's wrong?" Was all I said, kneeling down in front of the girl. I looked at her and she jumps up on me, pushing me into the floor. I laid there for a few seconds before I sat up. I held her close, trying to figure out what was wrong.
We talked for such a long time, drinking tea as she snacked on pastries while talking about why she was there and basically her whole life story. I looked at her in shock most of the time, but didn't hesitate to comfort. I never once judged her, in fact, she was as well lesbian. That's why she got kicked out. Her parents pasted away, and her grandparents were looking after her. She finally had the courage to talk to them about being a part of the lgbtq+ community, but they got mad and made her leave.
I never got her name once, but she fell asleep on the couch. I sighed while looking at her. I see the time and my eyes go wide. "It's already eleven at night?" I said quietly. I turned my gentle but tired gaze to the girl my age and stood up. I cleaned up the mess and picked her up carefully. I steady myself, so I didn't fall, and I walked to my room. I placed her down and sigh a bit. "You're really pretty. I hope you don't hurt yourself anymore. I know I don't know you. I know nothing yet everything about you." I whispered in a quiet voice. "Let's be friends. You can live with me. I'll take care of you, I promise." I whispered one more time before I changed my clothing tiredly and laid down, unconsciously holding her close, feeling she needed protection.
