"I know it isn't my problem. You're right, but I do have some sense that there could be something wrong." She added. "Does me worrying for him make you mad?"
"Of course it does. You care about him more than anyone else does," he stated. "It makes me angry to see you getting close to him when everyone else is just using him. Why do you see him differently than we do?"
"You should know me by now that I care about you all." She responded. "Just like how I see you differently too. It's the same thing." Her eyes got a little sad underneath the fierce look. "I only look at him like a brother, you know?"
"Do you see me as a brother too then?" He didn't give her an actual chance to respond. He decided that he didn't want to know her answer. He took a step back. "...Never mind. And I'm sure Shigaraki will be fine, unfortunately. He wanted this, so I better not hear him complaining about it."
(What the heck was that?) She gave him a puzzled expression. She hates the cliché leaving things unanswered. "First of all, I don't think of you that way. If you would have let me answer."
She shook her head with a sigh. Whatever. She decided to drop the topic of Shigaraki. It wasn't getting anywhere but making Dabi mad for some reason.
It's a bit sad for her to see them not become friends. Maybe they could be if they all finally got a chance to play video games together. She still has to beat Dabi at it anyway. But that's just wishful thinking. Not everyone can get along.
"Are you done being angry at me?" She asked.
His eyes looked her over as he searched for a good response. His gaze landed right on the scar on her shoulder.
..
'Look out!' She yelled as her feet sprinted towards him.
Dabi's focus was torn away from the fight by the sound of a gun shooting in his direction. He was almost scared to turn around; the possibility of him being the one to have gotten shot was fresh in his mind. When he turned around, though, he quickly realized that wasn't the case.
There was a woman with hair that was the color of the sunset. Her eyes shone a brilliant yellow in the aftermath of the flames that had yet to die down.
Blood dripped down from her arm and onto the concrete below. A few spots of the precious scarlet marking the ground just inches away from him.
The woman lowered her head. She didn't stumble nor did she scream. She simply gritted her teeth to bear the pain.
Dabi froze. His eyes widened slightly in surprise. 'Well that was a stupid idea.'
What kind of person took a bullet for him? It was obvious from a mile away that he was trying to kill people. He even looked intimidating with his constant cold expression and the ability to produce fire from his body.
She ignored his statement. She saw the thugs trying to persist. They were laughing and taunting as they kept themselves grouped together. Her eyes looked up with a piercing glare. 'Is that it?!'
Despite her injury, she already put herself in a stance to fight. 'This doesn't even hurt. You think I'm playing? I'm warning you to back off. NOW.'
That was all it took for the thugs to leave.
The full weight of what happened finally hit Dabi. He felt surprised, but he didn't exactly express it. 'You must be insane. You'll die with that wound.'
The wound that she gained from saving him.
He could kill her himself. That would be an easier solution to get rid of the annoying surprised feeling that he felt.
