Winter came and took you away
With so much still left to say
The prior four years we'd been estranged
I contacted you hoping you'd changed

It was quite nice to hear your voice
When we split you made the choice
You broke my heart into a million pieces
You'd said I want to show you what love is

Being the narcissist that you were
You told me you were in love with her
You didn't care you broke my heart
After you'd told me we'd never part

Four long years I pined for you
Cancer decided it wanted you too
I contacted you to say goodbye
It was all I could do not to cry

A couple of weeks later you were gone
Now, I'm left singing this sad sad song

Winter came and took you away
With so much still left to say
