Vignette Assignment

Start from the beginning

"Oh thank god! I can finally see my precious again!" Jerry said, almost singing with happiness.

"Well if you love it so much how about you marry it?"

"Here I come my precious! You don't have to wait any longer!" Jerry ignored Rachel's comment and sped ahead over in the classroom. Trinity cased after him with a "no running in the halls!" while also running. Still walking, I laughed a little at this till I realize I was the only one. Stopping to looking back, I see Rachal has stopped and was looking back at something. But when I looked, nothing was there. She had this weary and serious exasperation on her face. It caught me by surprise a little bit as she usually had a laid-back look without a care in the world. I take a few steps towards her. I hear the classroom door open behind me, I look back quickly, why am I suddenly so tense? We are just in a hallway, nothing is happening so why am I reacting like this? My eyes fall on Trinity entering the classroom.

See? everything is fine. So why do I feel fear crawling up my spine?

Why does it seem like the shadows are dancing?

Why do I feel like I'm soaking my shirt with sweat?

Why do I feel like shouting out to Jerry and Trinity as the door close behind them?

All of these feeling just came out of nowhere for no reason. Why am I-

"Hey, you good-?"

"AHH!"

"Whoa! Whoa!"

I spin around with a short scream, only to see a very confused and surprised Rachel. "oh my god-" I said, releasing the air I didn't know I was holding. I put my hands on my knees and take a few deep breaths. Rachal doesn't say anything for a while and just stares down at me, giving me time to calm down. It silent for a few minutes, as I stand up straight again, and looked back at her. As if she decided that I had enough time, she suddenly turns around and starts walking to the entrance classroom.

"We should go, Energy ball and Goody Two-Shoes are probably waiting for use" she says, referring to Jerry and Trinity.

"R-Right" I shakily replied, walking after her.

As we walk, Rachal kept glancing at me every five seconds. As I was about to question her, we were already at the door. Rachal opens the door and says, in a teasing tone, "ladies first" with a hand behind her back with a little bow. I scruff and roll my eyes as she snickers in amusement.

As we enter, we see Trinity looking into one of the many desks that was stacked on top of each other while Jerry was looking through the teachers desk. He picked up a box and looked in it, his eyes lit up almost immediately.

"Yes! My precious~!" Jerry says, holding his phone up like that one scene In the Lione king, dropping the box in the prosses. With a big smile on his face, he skips over toward us near the door. "Some help you guys were!" He said, still with that big smile of his. Rachel scuffed, "Whatever".

Trinity comes over with a confused exasperation, "Are you guys ok? You were out there for a while. What were you doing?" She asked. Jerry then jumps like he remembered something, "Yeah, What were you two doing outside, alone?" Jerry says, agreeing with Trinity in a teasing tone. "We could have gotten my phone without you guys." He says as he crosses his arms.

Rachel sighs as if she is tired and puts a hand on her hip. "It wasn't my fault" she said, putting a hand on her chest in a dramatic way, giving me the stink eye. "Scaredy cat over here almost peed himself over his own shadow." Although she muttered, "But I think we should get going soon, something doesn't fit right with me now" so low we couldn't hear it. Dropping her hand and rolling her eyes to the door, ignoring the betrayed and horrified exasperation I gave her. Jerry and Trinity both looked at me as I started to panic.

"N-no I didn't!" I shouted, trying to explain and defend myself, "Rachel was acting all weird and I just started sweating out of nowher-!" I was cut off by a tight grip of a hand on my arm. My first reaction was pull away and call out "Rachel! What the he-!" But what stopped me again was the look on her face. Her eyes were wide like saucers and mouth agape. Her face was pointed towards at the classroom door, "Rachel you good? What are you-?" Jerry stopped as we adverted our eyes to whatever she was looking at, only to mirror Rachels exasperation.

"G-guys... what t-the heck is that?.." I hear Trinity whisper, but barely. It was like I was under water, I could barely hear anything. I couldn't breathe. My sol focus was to get to the surface to welcome in the air above, too run. But in this case, it felt like it was already too late, like I was already being pull down by gravity keeping me from being able to take that breath, fear.

But, I was kind of grateful, for air was not the only thing waiting for me up there.

In the window of the classroom door, stood a humanoid figure. Its skin was a ghostly white with pitch black hair that looked like it could reach the floor. But none of that was more important than it eyes- no... that's not the word, it has no eyes, only small black vortexes that look like an endless pit that goes on forever. But as it frowned at us, even if there was no eyes visible on the humanoid figure, I felt it staring, piercing through each and every one of our souls.

It was silent for a while.

Then a scream from Trinity rang throughout the room. A shout from Rachel as she turned around "we haVE TO GET OUT OF HERE-!"

Everything happened to fast. A panicked Rachel, a falling Trinity, a fear frozen Jerry, and a white hand approaching me in a high speed.

Those were the last things I saw before everything turned black and silent.
