A scene where SpongeBob and Patrick, after escaping from Shell City, encounter Sandy on the surface, who here has the appearance of a real-life squirrel, was planned for the film but was cut for time. The animation for the scene is included as a deleted scene on the DVD. This was removed due to Patrick barfing a lot.
